What constitue a bus lane?

Oh traffic knowledgeable folk on Fab.

I have in my hand a penalty notice accusing me of being in a bus lane. The picture shows only a bit of one wheel of the car I was driving on the solid line between my lane and the bus lane.

Do you think I have a case to appeal?

The last penalty notice I got was about 18 years ago so I've no idea about all this stuff.

All I know is that in Rugby if part of the ball is on the line then it's a try, but in Football the whole of the ball has to be completely across the line for a goal to be awarded

Id appeal it, you could have had to swerve at that moment or anything to cause a bit of one wheel, you were travelling in your lane and you werent directly in it to pass traffic

That's exactly what I was thinking!

I would definitely appeal. Even if you lose you still have the option to pay the reduced penalty charge within a certain number of days after a decision is made.

Why were you driving on the line?

Just pay them and thank your lucky stars they missed the fact that you were pissed and on the phone

You may have swerved to avoid a pothole?

I think they're taking the piss a bit as you wasn't actually in the bus lane, just a tyre on the boundary line.

I'd appeal.

I think there should be two pictures. One to show where you started driving and the other to show how far. You may have a case for dismissal.

IANAL so I would advise getting proper legal advice from a reputable source.

A lot of solicitors offer a free 30 min consultation- maybe it's worth a try. I would appeal.

I believe the white line is referred to as ghosting and doesn't qualify as an infraction, but I am no expert. You need one. Good luck Tops x

I'd appeal as surely they have to prove willful intent.
