A colleague and I were on business in Spain last summer staying in Sitges. It just happened that our last night coincided with the first night of the Sitges gay pride, so we went along to see what the fuss was all about. It was a really good entertaining evening. The Spice Girls tribute band are headlining and we were right at the front of the stage. They were brilliant. |

Pride events, when I first went and watched, were a bit dull.
Last year I joined the parades and suddenly 'got it'. I felt proud of who I am. Very emotional.
Pride is all about awareness, in my view. It give people the impression there are more of us than there really are, but it goes some way to 'normalising' what's, let's face it, far from normal.
By taking part you get a massive boost of your confidence too. That was really important to me. |
