I just spoke to a friend who went for an interview for a receptionist position, and the woman interviewing told him the job is more suited to a woman.
Do you think these days especially as there are lots of woman rights marches going on that there are still gender specific jobs.

There are jobs that are legally allowed to be gender specific. If the job your friend went for isn't one of them the interviewer could be in trouble.
I think certain personal care roles can be gender specific. |

There is no way she is legally allowed to say that |

A friend of mine works in a nursery, and when a man applied for a job as a nursery assistant some of the other women's attitudes were disgusting, he never got the job simply because he was male. |

I've come across a few male nursery nurses & they've always had positive feedback from the kids & parents. Such a shame that some people can't see that. |

Seems a bit odd to offer an interview to someone you don't think will be suitable from the start.

Perhaps the application form was initial and surname only to help avoid selection by gender |

I think men are generally great with Children, they revert back to being a child and seem to make everything fun with Children. We've never used child day care for our children so never really had a 1st hand account child care |

You must be a female to work at that reception..
You must wear a skirt and heels..
You must wear a seductive blouse that lets me peak through the gaping hole between buttons.. and lean forward so I can peer down at your cleavage...
You must wear glasses and wear your hair up, you must bite the tip of your pen and drop it regularly and pick it up.. offer to escort me around the building to show me all the nooks and crannies of the building...
Ok, so my fantasy doesn't work in the real world.... Greeted by a receptionist saying... "Hi my names Dave" really kills the mood... damn political correctness!
Yes.. this is tongue in cheek before you start! |

There shouldn't be any barrier to what jobs people do because of gender.
On average, men tend to be stronger than women (on average) so you would expect heavy manual jobs to be dominated by them.
In job groups solely relying on mental ability it should be 50:50 of course. |

It is a male dominated crime. But you could equally say men shouldn't be teachers on that same mentality.

Ive had that said to me before when a role I applied for turned out it was more of an administrative nature as the lady interviewer explained. She said I think this job wouldnt be right you as its more of an admin role and would me more suitable to a woman as she thought id get bored?

There's male receptionists at my work and it's a health care environment for a body part that men don't have!

Equal right for pay, women are generally paid less doing the same role as a male colleague. |

Bearing in mind the importance for boys to have a strong male role model in their lives I think it makes perfect sense to have more men doing this type of work... |

So why are British women marching in the UK about Trump. I never see the Americans marching about anything they don't like in Britian. Typical British interfering, the majority of America voted for him but we British have to demonstrate because we don't like it. |

If thats remotely even true dont you think those capitalist scumbags would only employ women and save themselves a fortune?.
There was a guy on this morning TV show ages ago that completely disproved that widely used quote, the reality was that he concluded after studying the data that there was more sexisim against men than women in recent years |

Aren't companies supposed to keep a record of who they interview ?
So they conform with equality and discrimination laws ?
Don't they have to be seen as having interviewed a certain amount of people from all sections of society like the disabled and those from different ethnic backgrounds and also for sexual equality laws etc?

A man stated that there is discrimination against men? Surprising.
I agree however that the 'widely used quote' is incorrect. In fact, the gender pay gap is larger than originally thought, and the usual caveats about women taking time out of the workplace to have children doesn't bring it up at all. Women get paid so much less that even economics can't explain it. |

Unless there is a specific reason such as a care worker looking after a woman or vise versa there should be no gender specific jobs.
Now the interviewer might have their own personal bias (as we all do) as to who is better suited to the role but they should keep them to themselves as they are opening up themselves and the company to a claim |

The majority of America didn't vote for him. The majority of US voters didn't vote for him. Like over here, its first past the post in the US, not proportional representation.
Anyway, we can demonstrate if we want to. So ner. |

Your wrong, even if you just go off the studies you like to go off it's actually narrowed 4% in the last four years!.
But They've been debunked for literally years anyhow, the gap even if it even exists is so small it's hardly measurable, |
