"Why is it that women ignore messages or just don't bother answering?"
All sorts of reasons:
Inundation
Real life taking priority
Offensive/demanding/entitled/creepy messages
Those that don't match my profile
Those that are clearly generic cut and paste jobs which could (and probably have) be sent to anyone
Those consisting of just one or two words
Those where the sender has no photos, or revolting photos
Those where the sender has a lazy/illiterate/offensive profile
Those where I've noticed the sender being a twat in the forums
and ....
... because I don't want to, and don't have to |

Or have learnt the hard way that by replying with a thanks but no thanks leads to abuse or a continuing string of unwanted messages....
For example my profile is clear that I'm only interested in locally based people, I would say about at least 80% of my daily messages come from people who don't meet that, so why should I answer all of those messages to say thanks but no thanks when all they had to do was to read the first couple of lines of my profile? Strangely enough I have a life outside of Fabs and prefer to reply to e mails where the sender at least meets the most important requirement for me.

 exactly this, 80-90% of messages are from people who have clearly not read my profile. Why should I bother replying when they can't be bothered to read? |

No doubt. I like getting messages. Then again, I don't get that many so really don't struggle to keep up  |

We are not obliged to reply just because you write to us.
Just like we are not obliged to interact with anyone we don't want to. Thats a basic human right.
However if someone is polite and has read my profile I'll reply politely even if it's to say no thank you. |
