It depends why you have been growing it in the first place. Is it because you like it, or because you feel you have to because it's the 'in thing' to do and you want to be hip and trendy like the cool kids but you're not really all that keen on it?
If the former - keep it 
If the latter - don't worry about trends - lose it!
Simples!
If you're somewhere in the middle go with what your gut feel says - I'm sure inwardly you have a preference so go with that rather than rely on the whims of randomers on an internet sex forum!

I've never been one for following trends I was just too lazy to do anything about it haha
