If you could resurrect....

one person, who would it be?

I had this conversation with my friends recently and found it to be quite interesting. Would it be someone like Sir Isaac Newton who was a genius, a man with an unusual brain. Brought up to speed with modern knowledge, he might be able to come up with new discoveries. Others mentioned were Einstein, Mozart, Marie Curie, family members and David Bowie. Would you choose someone only you would benefit from or someone the world may benefit from?

My answer was Elvis Presley because I grew up with his music and just loved to watch him perform and also my beautiful grandmother.

Aside from selfish choices like family and close friends, I would go with an inspirational figure like Martin Luther King.

Although it is possible that their martyrdom made more happen in their absence, I believe he would have continued in furthering his dream.

My Dad. It's been nearly 20 years and I'd love to have that Father/Daughter relationship as an adult woman.

I think he would be horrified at how stupid the Americans have become.. he'd probably have a quiet giggle to himself.

Absolute genius, philosophical, amazing musician and would have to ask whether he did it or not

No he would be mortified as to how far we have slipped and how oppressed we still are.

On a lighter note, Frankie Knuckles - we miss him.

Gandhi. The world needs more peace, love and understanding besides he doesn't eat much thus won't burden the tax payer.

Agreed. They should shove a cigar in his mouth, stick him one if his gold shell suits, read out all the charges against him then throw him to the lions.

Horrified by how little progress has been made more like. I have been lucky enough to meet a lot of really lovely US folk, but there is still barely concealed racism over there in so many middle to southern states.

But that's beside the point that I reckon he would have made equality closer than it is now.

What a sad thread - I really feel for those of you who mentioned family members

I'll try and keep mine relatively light- Bruce Lee. He was young and had so much more to give the worlds of martial arts and movies.

Nikola Tesla was a man about 50 years ahead of his time. If he was able to carry on and share his work, we'd have a much better chance of averting the energy crisis and reversing global warming

I'd find it hard to choose between my mum and dad. I guess I'd choose Dad as not seen him for 30 years and he never got to see me as an adult.

My Granddad; loveliest man on earth (other than my Dad).

Failing that it would probably be Sir Thomas More or Good Queen Bess, both jolly interesting and opinionated peeps.

I don't think I'd resurrect anyone for myself as I haven't lost any immediate family yet (touch wood). For my ex I'd resurrect his mum who died yesterday morning and for my dad I'd resurrect his dad who died when he was 4. I don't remember my grandparents being particularly happy people so I'm not sure they'd appreciate the disturbance.

Yet even after all his inventions, he died penniless.
