There were mixed responses from the start from what I can see, from 'it looks ok to me' to 'you are too far away' to 'ask your wife'. You were taking the piss in it so how was anybody to know it was serious unless you shut them up and said it genuinely bothered you. This is very true. However I will always speak my mind, whether it be controversial or otherwise. I won't pander around people's feelings on here. Not read all the thread - or the thread you're referring to - but yes - in my opinion women are treated 'better' on the forums than men are! Men seem to be blasted for many things that women just aren't - and I think it's a lot harder for a guy to make an impression/find his feet on the forums than it is for women and couples!

I take it the controversial opinion you're talking about is cheating!? That is a really personal thing for some and will always raise a very heated debate. However, making personal insults and attacks on someone isn't fair and what the report button is for.

I do find it odd that someone who is so openly controversial, is surprised at receiving some negativity. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that in many of the comments you make, you probably do it purposely. That's just my observation though.

I agree mostly with this (baaaa!) But I don't think one sex is more likely to be critical over another. On here there are far more men to be criticized, if that's what floats your boat, and as women are in short supply the men are perhaps less likely to ruin their chance of meeting by dishing out the insults.

I'm never surprised at receiving negativity. That is what happens in adult debates, and I do actively encourage debates. Like you've said though, it's personal stacks and insults I disagree with.

If you're highly intelligent and articulate then great - you can argue the toss with just about everyone on most topics without fear! If you're not then there are quite a few popular/well known forumites who will endeavour to make mincemeat of anyone who disagrees with them - occasionally unkindly - and they seem to be rarely challenged!

Not sure - but I think this is one thing that puts many 'forum lurkers' off becoming regular posters - which is sad! Xx

There are a few people I've chatted to that won't dare comment in the forum because they've seen the way others are treated. It's very sad indeed. No one should be made to feel that they can't voice their own opinions.
