I know, I'm stupid, but just looking for some advice
Bought a product and paid only p&p. Had email from them which stated more money after 14 day trail. Tried to cancel but they were asking for more money. So emailed them, and asked to cancel order before they sent it.
Order was placed 7.30pm on 28/2. Emailed them 1.30am 1/3
I them emailed my bank, explained what I had done and gave them the name of the company plus what they told me would appear on my statement. Asked bank not to authorise any payment to them.
Read online they take £100s and it's a fight to get it back. I'm in no position to lose any money at all.
Is there anything else I can do? Worried sick about this and finding hard to sleep |

Ring the bank Cancel your card ? Report it as lost , no one can take a payment from a cancelled card . Cost of a replacement card would be cheaper I'd say |

"That would be an idea. As I gave the card number and not bank account
But now I've told the bank would they not be suspicious? "
It's your card bank should have a phone number to report lost or stolen cards , you get a new card with a new number and they can't take any money from your a/c , not sure what the cost is but I'm sure it's worth it for piece of mind |

Out of curiosity what was the product?
Have you got the wording of all the t&cs you agreed to.
Is it a subscription prpduct or one off item.
Refuse delivery if it arrives |

It would only stop new future not ones she'd already authorised that come at a later date.
And she could but that eould be fraud and the bank wouldn't be hapoy about it |

"It would only stop new future not ones she'd already authorised that come at a later date."
If the card is cancelled before any payment is taken, then the OP should be ok. If it is proven to be fraud, the bank may well reimburse the money anyway depending on the particular circumstances. |

It's the future payments I was worried about. I can forgive the £3 if that goes and put it down to experience, it's just the larger amounts I can't lose. |

Your bank works for you! You tell them what to do with your money they are simply holding it for you! So tell them no payments are to be made to that company
Your agreement is with the internet company doubt they would chase you through the courts if they are running a scam! |

Also if you think it's fraudulent contact the fraud line. Unfortunately my mum was victim to a scam before Christmas and lost £650 they were really helpful. |

Probably not. And even if they are so what. Just cancel your card as lost |

Don't worry. You're covered by the long distance selling act, which allows you to cancel orders and subscriptions within 14 days (I think) on receipt of the order. You've emailed the company, so keep that as proof of cancellation. If the product arrives, send it back immediately. |

"Just be 100% certain to send it back in its' original packing by recorded delivery.
If not, they can say you took the goods and just didn't pay. Keep all the records of the purchase and return."
And this, whatever you do do not open it.
Just wrap over the original and send it recorded delivery |

This is a common scam. I got fooled by this one too. They get your card details to pay for 'postage' for free body lotion, but in the small print you have agreed to pay so much each month for repeat orders. It's probably a company in Canada. They ripped me off for about £80, but the bank refunded me. |

The ASA have no power here because they are a foreign company. |

This isn't any practical help, but don't feel bad about this.
I think many perfectly intelligent people make slip up with security. I actually advise people on online security as part of my job and I fell for something a year ago. Almost cost me a lot of hassle, had I not come to my senses.
What I learnt from that is - don't do sensitive security/financial stuff when tired, half awake, stressed or in a rush (and certainly not some combination of them all)!
