Surely 'the lift' refers to the famous dirty dancing lift in the water. That was my first thought anyway.

The Goonies
Near the end of the film when they are all on the treasure ship.
Sloth turns up high on the mast and shouts out "Hey You Guys!" as hey swings down onto the deck to come to the Goonies rescue.
Loved it.
The car chase in Bullitt also has a special place in my movie heart
