Is the new thing in your child's education
"It's a methodical approach which is used to ensure that education meets the needs of individual children, recognising that each has a unique style of learning, communicating, building relationships and making decisions"
So, we now have to fill in a sheet with these criteria....
- What do people like and admire about your child ?
- They're a cunning and focused child that has unique people skills, designed to get what they want with as much fuss as possible
.
.
- What makes your child happy ?
- Chocolate, money and playing computer games
.
.
- What doesn't your child like ?
- Not getting any of the above.
.
.
- What would be your top 2 tips for helping your child learn?
- Teachers teaching cistern, rather than filling out pointless forms
- Getting to know out child and calling him by the right name

Person centredness is coming into play more and more in all areas of health and education, filling in the forms might me ridiculous to you, but for those of us working in the fields it helps us to see each person as an individual in the short space of time that we get to spend with them so we can tailor everything to them. |

I'd have thought that teachers got to know their pupils through daily interaction in the classroom
If teachers were able to spend less time doing these sorts of intensive exercises then surely that would help them ? |

Getting to know 30 new people all at once would be a huge task, let alone 30 little people who don't always convey their emotions to random adults. It can take months to get a rapport built and then they change teachers every 12 months.
Or the parents can fill in a form in 5 minutes and give the teachers notes to work with so they aren't working blind. I think it's a great idea. |
