Having watched the first two films in the trilogy I can't see why everyone got excited they're pretty tame in my opinion and I can't see the third installment getting much better |

Why do people go to see films that they know they will think are shit?
The books and films aren't tame to a lot of people. They quite racy and explicit. Those people (and others) enjoy them. |

"They are very tame, but I still enjoyed them, the second one more than the first." I agree 2nd one edged it but was expecting to be taken on more of journey into the sub Dom world and was hugely dissapointed when only highlight was when he slapped the leg spreader on her and threw her onto all fours

I might not get through the first ten minutes of the third. |

I think some people expect it to be something it's not - 50 shades is a love story with bdsm just like twilight was a love story with vampires. I'm disappointed that the bdsm stuff wasn't shown more but they're limited that it's cinema release not something for xhamster.
The stuff with Anastasia was adventurous sex at best, the only bdsm that resonated with me was the D/s dynamic with Leila - the kneel command, submissive position and touch of her head. |

Such a shame that BDSM gets into the mainstream and it's a badly watered down version. |

Don't take offence. Just my opinion based on my experience of the people who raved/ranted about the books when they first came out.
They weren't marketed for those already in the scene or with any form of liberal views regarding sex... It was scandalous chick lit for the masses that cemented the widely held view (again, imo) that to be into BDSM you had to be broken, abused, compensating for something. |

I don't like 50 shades of grey for the same reason I don't like twilight. It promotes unhealthy abusive relationships.
In the bdsm scene realistically the power lies with the sub, because when they say stop by using a safe word it all stops. 50 shades doesn't show that. He is a dominant character who abuses other people. That's not healthy and should not be encouraged. |

I'm agreeing with this.
It's a popular book and film franchise that people enjoy.
A few of us on here enjoy an alternative lifestyle that may make the books look tame but if it brings pleasure to others who are we to judge. |

"Don't rate it much, heard so many women going on about it and wanting a 50 shades lifestyle yet most probably won't even take a finger up the bum. "
My word!!! What has bdsm got to do with having anything up your bum???
Some people where expecting far too much from a general release film.
I enjoyed the first one and eagerly awaited the second. Sadly I was disappointed. Way too much like a chic flick
Some of it was funny but then again I didn't go to watch a comedy either.
As for the 50 shades lifestyle you refer too.... It's not just about the sex and the bdsm, it's about the whole thing. Having a man as powerful, rich and gorgeous as Mr Grey take care of you is a dream.
When was the last time you bought a woman an expensive car? Flew her in a helicopter to a date? Showed her the best that there is? Oh, never was that?
So you can take your finger and stick it up your own bum!!! |

We watched it yesterday, thought it captured the sexual tension between them really well, we weren't expecting a full on sex show, or a true representation of BDSM, and let's face it as a story line "18 year old student gives her virginity to a mid twenties billionaire who's into bandage and changes him with love", is pure Mills n Boon, it wasn't the worst film we have seen, at least it didn't rely on mindless violence and gore to grab our attention, refreshing change, and hey, can't please all the people all the time, at least it raised the question us "how about we get the cuffs out and I spank you a bit tonight" ...lol |

So you wouldn't take a finger up the bum for a fast car and helicopter ride? "
I most certainly would if Mr Grey was offering.
But I still don't see the connection between 50 shades, bdsm and the posters reference to a woman not wanting a finger up the bum??? I'm bemused |

"Don't rate it much, heard so many women going on about it and wanting a 50 shades lifestyle yet most probably won't even take a finger up the bum.
Any woman with will and drive can get all that material stuff herself, it should be about the sex and sex alone the bdsm you refer to imho is a lot more hassle than a simple finger up the arse, personally I don't like things going up my bum only coming out but hey-ho whatever tickles your pickle chick. |

Your original statement is flawed.
I enjoy bdsm but due to trust and mutual respect with my partners, anal is not an option!
A Dom or sexual sadist (as Mr Grey refers to himself) doesn't just do as he pleases to his sub. It's a mutual agreement.
Doing what you please to a woman is assault! That's the difference! |

Good for them.
The cold hard fact is that the majority of society views women that enjoy sex as 'sluts and whores'. Having the 50 Shades stuff to use as an 'excuse' to be more adventurous in bed is fantastic. |

surely grown women can (and do) discover their sexual identity/freedom without cheesy merchandise from a film?

Good to see healthy debate going on but for me I was expecting the second installment to get raunchier as there was lots of hype about the author being dismayed at the way the first film panned out and was taking more control in the second one to make it mimicking the book more but alas it was more mills and boon |

While we are on this subject has anyone thought that maybe the inspiration for the 50 shades books comes from the secretary a film from about 10 years ago with Maggie Gyllenhaal and James spayder

Definitely. James Spader's character is even called Grey.
Obviously 'Secretary' is an infinitely better (and sexier) film.

I'm pretty vanilla and I thought both films were good. People were expecting and x rated porno and got a Hollywood spin on a popular book series. Who would have thought
Those same people would have complained that the film was trashy and sleazy if it had been more raunchy |

Forgot I'd started this post but still say they could of filmed the scenes of sexual content a bit more provocatively but after listening to people rave about the books I genuinely thought maybe I was wrong but I've seen more how do I say thought provocative low budget films that show the BDSM relationship better that make you go wow why would you subject yourself to that |

A lot of the population I suspect found it rather raunchy.
Fab it's run of the mill.
Just know I wish I had the agents percentage from the book.
My challenge would be, if you can do it better do, editors desks are about as difficult to get as a single mans meet on here... |
