Tbh usually have say £20 in cash in my wallet and some loose change and I hardly ever use it.
I normally just use my debit card for everything.
So wouldnt imagine cash being a thing of the past would impact my life that much.
I couldn't have imagined myself saying that 30 years ago though. |

I just go contactless, I seriously cannot be arsed with the general process of buying things.

I'd resist a cashless society, as it means that everything done, traveled places, visited, bought etc is known by the state at a minimum. They already want this as it provided a system of power to them. All income known, taxed etc. Terrible |

Agree its what the state wants and I do believe it'll happen in our life time. OK it might enable the state to track ppl who previously got paid cash in hand for work. BUT how we gonna give money to the homeless?

I can have £20 in my bag on a Monday. By Friday it's gone. My grandchildren rinse me of all my cash. A pound for school tuck, £2 for dancing tuck, £5 to go out with on a Friday. Plus I buy milk etc during the week at my local shop, who charge to use your card. |

It will happen and will happen soon unless it's resisted! Think about it they don't want a cash system. It's creeping it's way in already. Banks have to have a level of cash surplus in them as so to cover withdrawal. Producing, buying, selling and storing cash is expensive business.
Plus now they can just use system where all that's needed it to send an electrical signal to move a few numbers from one file to another that costs nothing. They then charge you interest on that free electric signal by taking an amount of your wage.
Some people think that the conspiracy is that they want to track what you do and where you are. That's to distract you from the real truth that if they do away with cash they can effectively take a percentage of your earnings for a fucking email! |

They already do it is the shops etc that get charged it is up to them whether they pass it on to the customer directly or indirectly. |

I've been working for small cash-only business, which will never accept card payments because of related costs. Customer reactions are very mixed, some are not bothered at all, others are very surprised. I know of only one other business in the area that is cardless, a café (I was caught out!).
The idea of biometric payments make me shudder  it is crossing a line that IMO shouldn't be crossed, where the individual literally becomes the bank account/their assets. |
