Is there a tune which really upsets you when you hear it?

The one that does it for me is The Bee Gees, How Deep Is Your Love?

It was played at my best friends funeral, he was only 38 and commited suicide, it's nearly 8 years ago but still makes me sad when I hear it.

Sorry to be maudlin, but it was just on the radio.

Don;t hear it on the radio very often. but when I do hear 'Me and my Teddy Bear' it always reminds me of my mum, she used to sing it to me when I was little and she started singing it three days before she died.

Even thinking about it I'm welling up

God bless Mum xxx

Sounds a bit strange, but 'Thank you for the music' by Abba - as soon as the chorus starts I start blubbing!

It has got to be Pink FLoyd and Breathe... now there is a spiritual connection....

little house on the praire

Well some know ive had a few difficult times in my life.

Many songs evoke strong memories for me for good and bad reasons but the one that springs to mind is "Because you loved me" it reminds me of my mum as she has done things that no mother should have to have done

Boldon

when I worked in the family funeral trade

at one cremation service the family wanted follow the yellow brick road from the wizard of oz to be played as the coffin went out of view.

we gave the cd to the guy at the back and told him what to play

oops did he get the wrong track and as the coffin disapeared out came the song

" the wicked witch is dead "

Nizopoli - JCB song

Doesn't really upset me, but does make me mushy inside, because it's a song that could have been written about me and my Dad.

Worksop

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits..... First heard it at 18 shortly after a few mates, one of whom died, where shot by the IRA.

Makes me well up every time I have heard it since, hence I never play it......

I don't have any sad memories associated with songs, and tbh I try and avoid associating them so that I can still enjoy a good song without invoking any sad memories.

I hope you don't mind me saying this but I've just read your other thread about your daughters and that happened 8 years ago also.

I may be barking totally up the wrong tree here but could you have been in a particularly dark place in your life at that time?

My own father decided he wanted nothing to do with us when he divorced my mother and now 20 years later that is still the case. Sometimes it's the mother who turns the kids away from their father, and I'm not saying that was the case with you, but you have to ask the question: Why would your children not want to know you if they've had no contact with you and have only got what their mother told them?

Surely, even if they didn't want you as a father-figure in their lives they would still want to know the answer to the burning question: Where were you?

Unless they believe they already know the answer.

I sympathise with your situation, friend. I'd like to ask my father "Why?" but I don't need him as a father any longer.

Good luck.

Wishy
