We used to run on common sense but to become a Liberal, you actually need to be void of it.

I hope Trump does well, Brexit happens and the likes of France, Italy and the Dutch quit the EU, causing it to fail.

I remember years ago my pal (Jamaican)comes in work kicking off ...not like him at all ...said what's up with you .....schools gone mad ,can't sing baa baa black sheep because it's racist ...I said ok ..man he nearly took my head off .....why ?...because to him it wasn't ok it was another reason another stupid idea that created more racial tension not solve it ....to me that's sums up the pc brigade right there ....do more harm than good

i'm not afraid to say anything, but i'm also willing to listen. and if someone says they're offended by something i will try and understand why.

i also know how to fact check (google is only a click away), so when someone does talk shit and pretends they're being PC or pointing out 'statistics' or anything to back up what they're saying and they are wrong i can find sources for that.

PC just means being respectful to someone and not offending them. pretending someone isn't offended doesn't cancel out being offensive.

Just my thoughts exactly. There's more that just look to take offense than there are who dish it out. Often they've been offended in the past, maybe rightly so but then they carry this chip with them everywhere and inflict their disapproval anywhere they can whether legit or not. If is deliberately done or said then yes I agree speak up and speak out.... However when they start to impose that where people have no intention of offense then they shouldn't impose their sorry on others. They should see it as just that. ..not offensive.

A claim culture has alot to answer for in the PC gone made world we live in.

We were in drag show in Gran Canaria last year and someone complained they'd told a racist joke.

We were sharing a table with a black couple and they, like us, were nearly peeing themselves laughing.

Politically Incorrect and Socially Unacceptable are 2 different things.

MOST things fall into the bracket of "Socially Unacceptable" in reality.

I'm in a new job, its quite a diverse crowd, races and sexes...though sitting listening to jokes about jordan's disabled child I sit gritting my teeth..I'm not the target of course...however my niece is disabled(cerebral palsy), yup it offends me.She's a bright cheeky kind of girl and most likely can defend herself to a degree,whilst being only 13. She loves family guy, and laughs at its political incorrectness...though I can imagine if she sat with the workmates or lets say frankie boyle..I'm sure she would see it in a different light.

Many people who have such 'humour', I actually wish they knew someone or had a family member with a disability...and make the jokes to their faces..and see the joy their 'humour' brings.

regarding race, I can imagine standing up to the likes of bernard manning...giving as good as I get...however..I know he'd reduce me to something like "monkey sees,monkey does",of course his crowd would all laugh in agreement that I am inferior.

As regards free speech it should work both ways..

Yup. I know him as a really amenable, non-confrontational, totally non-judgemental chap, despite him holding views that I do not share. His spirit is very 'live and let live', and I like him for that.

Tricky to debate properly when terms are so mutable: what are we defining as 'politically correct'?

The programme was actually pretty nuanced and interesting; no trading of insults, but an exploration of the idea of free speech (which, sadly, is sometimes used as an excuse to just be pretty unkind to others for no real reason).

So much animosity on both 'sides' (when did we become so divided as a society?) We need to talk
