How close does this function get??? Is it just 1/4 mile or closer????

You sometimes get 'within walking distance' but would take any distance with a pinch of salt

Thanks I was thinking that 400 meters (1/4 mile) might be a bit close for some people let alone closer!!!!

Quarter mile is the closest it's shown for me, and that's putting my wife's phone and mine together when both logged on, never seen touching distance
