A month long hike across the Himalayas back in 2001, in the middle of nowhere we met another party that told us that two weeks before the 911 new York attack had occurred, seemed strange having no contact with the outside world for nearly 5 weeks |

When we used to go on holiday to Switzerland and I was in my late teens my parents would by me a pass that ment I could go on any bus, train or boat. Me and my dad would pour over the maps every evening planing the adventure I'd take the next day whilst they relaxed at the chalet. This of course was before I had a mobile phone but my mum worked in Switzerland when she was in her 20s so she considered it a safe country. I loved the freedom, she would give me there but never would give me back at home. I miss those holidays. Xxx |

Skippering a 67ft yacht in a circumnavigation race in 2010
Only to get 400 miles short of Cape Horn down in the Roaring Forties and enter the most evil storm I've ever seen. We were turned over 4 times and have about 70% of the crew with injuries that bad they were strapped inside there bunks.
Now with no mast, no engine, no communication means and most important no helm to steer the boat I rigged a "jury" rig and with the help of the constant 4 knot run of the ocean and a spinnaker pole tied to the transom of the yacht navigated the yacht and all crew to Mere Harbour in the Falkland Isles using celestial navigation (and a bit of luck) |

1977 i was 15 - had the opportunity to spend almost 2 months in kenya with a friend whose dad worked for ici - she had been shipped off to boarding school in dorset so i went over --- had 2 weeks in mombasa - climbed mt kenya up to where the glaciers started (camping out was freezing) - stayed at treetops - stayed at the amboseli game park- saw so much and it was in the days when there were maybe half a dozen jeeps out all day - not the convoys you see now - absolutely can never be beaten - first time i had flown as well - always think of that summer as the one i grew up |

Finding that I can have friends despite what he told me for so many years.
Discovering that my sister is my very best friend.
Living on my own for the first time in 25 years.
Finding love with a younger man who is my everything these days.
Live if an adventure to LIVE. |

Scoring a job when I was 25 that allowed me to live in the US for a couple of years, travel to Mexico, Holland and China and have a thoroughly good time |

Leaving England in '99 with just a rucksack of clothes, my passport and a one way ticket to Athens. Didn't have any real plan just knew that I needed to get away. |
