I'm seriously thinking about hanging up the bass head boots and getting a new car

Quite fancy a type R. Currently got a 1.8 Civic boomer car, which is will put back to standard and all the audio sold off before selling the actual car.

What's the best way to sell privately, Facebook car pages, auto trader???

Never sold a car privately

"Pistonheads. "

Never thought of that one!

Could even list it for sale with all the mods rather than piece it out

Yeah, pistonheads is great - it's where I sold my last car and bought my latest. People are quite open if something isn't worth the asking price etc and not having to deal with piecing will remove ball ache. Good luck with it!
