Hurrah, a beer thread at last! Old Peculiar has always been about 5.7%, still a fave of mine. I love stouts and porters particularly, but there are so many amazing beers these days. My ideal man would be a pub loving beer fan (with a naughty streak obviously) but so many profiles on Fab state non drinkers!
I'll keep looking though |

The american double hopped ipas are amazing i really welcome the craft beer scene (even if it is derided as hipster).
There's some wonderful pubs about now that have small batch, high abv beers and are just the best places to spend the day working through the menu in halves or thirds |

Guinness has to be the most bland tasting stout out here. It's got no flavour and is watery as fuck!
Sams is a cool brewery though, they still use the old Yorkshire squares...I believe it's the pigeons that fall into the brew that give it its body |

Iceland, but Aldi is closer.. |
The high strength beers have a real sweet taste which I cannot get past...
Too much like the Flemish high strength beers that I grew to hate while stationed in Belgium.
6%abv Is around my limit and most good beers from the micros is around the 3 to 5 anyway,so happy days for me.
Some very good beers from my two favourite locals, Georges brewery in Wakering (Wakering gold and cockleboats) and the Brentwood brewery both have some very good beers that are worth looking out for. |

I think that's the beauty of the double hopped beers with really high strengths, you don't get that Belgian sweetness it's just bitter and smooth (although im a sucker for a Belgian too) |
