As a single girl, the proffered dismay, sympathy and tenderness towards my obviously dysfunctional existence, obvious unsuitability to darken another's life, all this whilst being a tragic reminder for those unlike me - those happy, joyful spirits, codependently clutching at any straws not to stoop to my level. I thank them all as I really enjoyed not having to layout on overpriced tat, flowers, meals.
