We're getting a new trilogy about Lyra 
This article doesn't give the exact date but it'll be the 19th of October. I can't wait as it's one of my favourite book series

Flopped is an understatment. It was so bad. If they hadn't spent so much money getting nicola kidman and stuff we might of got all 3 |

A couple of reasons, the film actually made a profit internationally but had poor takings in America. That coupled with the fact that the later books have challenging views of organised religion that weren't popular with the Bible Belt in America they decided that continuing with the franchise was more trouble that it was worth. I won't tell you exactly what it was in the later books that people got annoyed about but there were extensive demonstrations when the film came out and when the books were launched for that matter.
It's a shame actually because I thought the film was an excellent adaptation of the original story although it was watered down slightly I still really enjoyed it. I'd of loved to have seen film versions of the later books, some amazing things happen and it would be amazing to see that reproduced in moving images. |
