And also makes u think ....

No, I don't get envious of things like that. I enjoy seeing what others have but I learned a long time ago that you can only live your own life, even with its pains there will be times of joy.

I feel inadequate seeing people my age, married with 2 kids, planning on spending £500k on a house on location location location! I don't think I will ever be in a position to spend £500k on a house, but then I don't think I want to be |

I do murmer 'fuck me' when they say ......... mmmmmmmm well we have to stay within our budget..... maybe we could stretch to 10 or 20k more but certainly no more than that....... We only have 750k to spend ...... oh ...how much overbudget did we go .....mmmmmm about 50k but it's all good in the end.
I dont watch anymore .. EVERY single episode is scripted that way.

Programmes like that dont bother me. Same as watching anyghing about wealthy lifestyles.
But what i do find upsetting is programmes like... dont pay we will take it away . The ones where bailiffs target people on low incomes who have obviously hit hard times.
Nothing like kicking people when they are down.
I cant watch those types of programmes as its upsetting so i swith it over. |

The Director of a company I worked for till 2006, featured in one of the "Location Down Under" shows.
He's done very well, with his own Spice import and export company, all achieved thru his (quoted) 'blood, sweat & tears' plus bloody hard work! He has a lovely house, all very nicey nicey!
The reality......?
All achieved in fact by shafting every employee out of Redundancy payments. Funny how that never came to light in the programme? |

In the past when I had nothing I used to look at my brother n think bastard. But that was the life I had chosen. Now I'm happy I don't look at him with any greed and I'm actually very proud of him for all the hard work he has had to do to get where he is now.
I remember when my youngest was in infants school and they were told to find a house off the Internet that they likes. H when straight to google n found her uncles house to proudly show her teacher. She said this is my uncles house and her teacher said "oh is it really" in a very condescending tone. I was livid. Just because we are poor doesn't mean we started off poor. Xxx |

I hate those programmes, not because I`m envious of their budgets or that they are "taking homes from those who grew up in the village but can`t live there anymore because all of the rich bastards have come in and bought the houses up".
I hate it because it`s pure "look at me" telly because surely these people are not that stupid that they cannot use the facilities available to find their dream home ......... or are they? |

They always make me laugh as they want to downsize but need more bedrooms and big kitchens. It's a form of showing off and look at me what I can afford.
I do find them sickening but only in the sense of all that money for the sake of people being able to brag. |

I dont think they are all bragging i think they just go on there for something to do and they like being on the telly. |

"Think our generation has lost out on all the ganes from the baby boomers. They have had the best of it all. Our mom and dads first house was £435. "
When I bought my first house with my then girlfriend her mum one day said "Ooo its going yo be tough you know, when we bought our first house your dads money went completely on the mortgage, bolls & food. Furniture & having fun came out of my money".
I just laughed & said our mortgage alone was all my flat rate earnings & half their daughters. Then we had the bills to pay on top & then had to furnish it & eat!!
They had no idea

on and off for 54 years my grandad lived there for 50 years before going into a home, the house has been done up over time and still keeps its character from the outside. |

Don't get me started on this ffs!!!!
Buy to let landlords!!!! You are the ambulance chasing scumbags of the property world.... do nothing but buy the cheaper housing then bump up the rentals in the areas thus bumping up the local house prices too buy leaving fuck all available for anyone else.
We pay more in rent for our 3 bed semi than our mate pays for his £250,000 4 bed detached, a lot more, so how the hell am I meant to pay extortionate rent and save a deposit for a mortgage? Best of it was when I went to look at buying where we rent I was told I couldn't afford the mortgage (baby was still training at the time so no income) so I said oh really, I can't afford a mortgage for this area but I can pay someone else's every month with a profitable yeald too seeing as I live here already!!!

It's lovely to watch and see that people find the property they've dreamt about... does it bring them happiness once the cameras have left.. who knows!!

I reckon judging by some of the closing quotes - "Goerge and Mildred didn`t put an offer in for the show they were in raptures about and are now looking elsewhere" ....... No! |
