I didn't read it but if it's just a robot then what's the difference between that and a sex machine? I prefer a real man to have sex with. . It's too impersonal and mechanical otherwise. Plus I like cuddles after and some flirty chat  |

Well the implication would be that said robot could cuddle and and chat with you.
It wouldbt be impersonal as it would have a host of sensors to know exactly what aroused you most of it's actions in a way a human partner could not.
All in all they'd be a cut above a decent escort |

A fully realised sexbot would certainly be interesting and is a subject well explored in literature.
The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi, the Machine Dynasty series (vN, iD, ReV) by Madeline Ashby and the Dead trilogy (Dead Girls, Dead Boys, Dead Things) by Richard Calder all are rather interesting takes on the topic.

No  That's a misconception. We substitute for our immoral/illegal fantasies so that we can still get the satisfaction we need. Anyone who graduates from a substituted act to the real thing, what ever that may be, would have done it regardless.

Because it has been the case forever. It's the same as blaming scary movies and video games for violence. They are a form of catharsis at the very most. People will do what they are pre-inclined to do, regardless of the stimulus before hand.
I suppose a closer approximation would be to dress up as a school girl as a kink. It doesn't mean anyone involved want an actual school girl |

it's an often repeated argument but the thought of sex with an underage school girl is part of that scenario and the sexual experience itself mentally. i do get it's not child rape as it's adults playing out a childs role in a sexual way...but you can get how an idea itself, although not illegal, can be somewhat unapproved of morally.
pretending to be something and belonging to a society that doesn't approve of that scenario can help misjudge what people are actually thinking.
anyway, like i said it's something to think about really. whether it's ok to create something that will bring about morally questionable behaviour into reality. and will it satisfy them. i am sure most who play child sex dress up games do not go onto have sex with school children, will agree there.

If sexbots can reduce the need for human prostitution, exploitation and the sex trafficking of women and girls. Then they are a great idea. By default it would also leed to a reduction in STDs.
They could also to a degree provide a higher level of cybernetic artifial companionship for a lot of people well beyond the capacity of current real dolls.
They would make a lot of sense for legalised brothels as long as strict hygene and cleaning standards were maintained.
Lets hope there is more investment in the technology. |
