I applied for a roadsweeper driver job.. One thing i?m not happy about is that if i damage anything and its deemed my fault, i have to pay the first £1000. Is that a normal clause in driving?

Can't help with your query - I have a question for HGV drivers myself

If I need to deliver a large constainer to Germany, how long would it take to deliver it - bearing it mind it takes at least 15-16 hours to drive - but allowing for breaks, sleep etc.

Should I assume 24-36hrs ?

Yes. Based on 9 hours driving time but wouldn't take it close to the time limit.. Plus not sure if your classed as on daily rest on an overnight ferry.

I've heard companies charging the insurance excess on to drivers for fault accidents.

"Yes. Based on 9 hours driving time but wouldn't take it close to the time limit.. Plus not sure if your classed as on daily rest on an overnight ferry."

So roughly speaking, including rest periods say on the ferry, how long would it take

I would say 3 days. But remember it,s 56 hrs max per week.. Unless you don't mind staying there for a couple of days for weekly rest
