"I'm still on Jarvis.
Has 17 come out of beta yet?"
Yes krypton is finally out of beta. I'm reluctant to change at the moment. I had a lot of problems with Jarvis at the beginning, so I may wait a while. |

Just be aware you need android 5 as a minimum... It won't work below that.
I installed it last night and it is good but it will take some people a while to get used to it as the skins and format has totally changed |

I've been running it for a couple of days now so I am getting used to it and the best comparison I can give is it is like jumping straight from windows xp to windows 10.....it will take some getting used to but a better operating system |

"Daft question
I'm new to kodi 16.1 how do I update to 17.
Tbh I haven't got hang of 16.1 so might be worth starting fresh on 17"
You can download the update from the kodi website. It will give you all the information you need to setup there too. |

You can either do it through your boxes browser and download it straight to the box...then open it with the file explorer app or download on your PC to a stick and use the file explorer app to install it |

"Do you need a certain spec of box to run it?"
For 17 it has to have a os of android dive or above...KitKat 4.4 will not run it...but I think firesticks are based on android 5 |

VPN hosts will be busy exactly what a load of bollocks trying to scare people into not using it. While the police are busy hunting all these illegal boxes I might go and Rob the bank up the road that's a joke if any coppers are on here tut tut put your truncheons away "

It won't stop overnight but it will in a year or so....remember xbmc? That's what it was a couple of years ago when I got my first box...but they haven't supported that for a long time!
And yes I get you on 17....I would have liked it to stay in the same format as for me there are bits I don't like as in when you go to addons...then scroll down the bottom....there is no more "get more" there, which I think is a wrong step to go down....maybe they will tweek it in 17.1 in a couple of months |

I'm still on a late build of 16 as its very good and well developed.
Raspberry pi flys along on it.
The T95 boxes sound like great value I will look into one of them now.
The firesticks hardware is a bit out of date now tbh so might not do great with 17. |

Or, depending on the type of box you have you could ditch android and run Librelec or Openelec. Both are Just Enough Operating Systems (JEOS) to run Kodi. I'm running Libreelec on 3 boxes and they fly. |

After my initiall post I went back to using the old skins, but some of the addons did not work that way....so went back to the estuary skin a couple of weeks ago and I'm finding it fine now.
It would be good to hear how others are finding it |

Only just got a firestick and after a bit of research and some luck managed to install Kodi 17 and some add ons. Seems to be running great, not having any issues, other than some files I'm having to pair with open load to watch them.
Still struggling to run IPTV though, can't seem to get the hang of what to do???
No buggy though as I can still find the shows I want to watch on other add ons |

For those who haven't changed now is the time to get a move on to 17.1.

"Hahaha thanks for the rant . Think youl find im trying to help with a bit of helpful advice . Not a plug as i get nothing from telling someone a good server or app !!!! Iv got kodi and never use it as iv updated my services so carry on with your addon slow buffering dear sir "
I do not see the point of telling people to pay for something they do not need!
And as for kodi being sluggish....that is down to broadband speed and definition of how you view it....ie I have a poor broadband speed so I could not watch in 1080 ....sometimes I can get away with 720....but I always get uninterrupted viewing on standard definition which is good enough for me.
A fast fibre optic broadband will give you uninterrupted viewing of 4k when it becomes more available.
So I'm glad your happy paying your £50 per year for nothing. |

"Remember they will stop the updates for 16 soon
Good point
For those who haven't changed now is the time to get a move on to 17.1.
Note you need android 5.1 or above to do so.....if not start looking for a box that is "
Or as I said earlier look for a Libreelec or Openelec build for the box you have |

Nice post
Although I haven't tried the wookie light build as I use the indigo build...which is personal preference for me.....I my give it a try at some point but my only issues are with my broadband speed which is only around 2.4 mps and I don't think any build will increase that.
No fibre optic in my area yet
But as I said nice post as you know what your talking about unlike some |

Wookie light is designed for firesticks so deisgned for low bandwidth usage.
I use it on my phone and tablet because its also uses minimal memory and has access to all the major repos like exodus, ukturk and pyramid... Also comes with a channel for netflix for free |

Yeah I get it for a firestick and most tablets as if they are running on a low ram and memory you need as low as possible. But for a good android box I would not be bothered about how small it is as they can cope with decent sized builds
But as I said the big part comes down to broadband speed |

"Got mine the other day looks great. Only problem is that pairing link when you watch some films. Anyone else have this issue?
Yes it's a nuisance.....normally on openload links....keep clicking the cancel button if it comes up and avoid openload links
what is the point in them
Openload? If that's what you mean I don't know.....I just find it annoying but it doesn't happen often enough to upset me. "
Just to clear this up a little. I never choose a link that is openload OR torba. ...but even though I don't choose them...sometimes you will get that message popping up from openload or torba!
All you need do is click on the cancel button if you have not chosen either of these. |

Due to most wireless bandwidths not being that great even when your sat right on top of the router wookie works on stream compression so it maxes any bandwidth it can take from your router.
Another thing to consider in low bandwidth areas is running speed tests on your phone in various rooms to see if you can optimise it that way |

Yeah Openload and Torba links will always ask you to pair from a pc and I suspect this will be to link your IP address which is never a good idea. Kodi 17 is classed as stable now but might still have a few bugs but a lot of 16.1 jarvis users have noticed that the number of links getting returned are reducing. The servers of the files are switching to a new https: link that 16.1 and below cannot handle, so upgrading is your choice, if you find you have enough reliable links then stick with 16.1, if you have trouble then consider upgrading to 17 but look for a build that was designed for 17 or just put the addons you need on a blank kodi17. Google will have all the instruction vids you need for each addon.

Just make sure you have a tv licence as they are official apps that the BBC can monitor....whereby the kodi addon isn't! |
