Nothing beats Goodfellas but I do like American Gangster and Millers Crossing as well.

You've dropped In some films I haven't seen yet, love the gritty gangster stuff, the god father is an obvious one.

Goodfellas is fucking brutal from the opening scene, awesome

If you don't mind subtitles, i bought an excellent French film following a recommendation on a similar thread on here about world cinema- called Mesrine.

Based on a real life French gangster, with the awesome Vincent Cassell as the main man

Casino is quality.

All the usual are good BUT. Let's not forget our own gritty gangster films. Rock n Roller is a great movie as it layercake, scum, rise of the foot soldier/Essex boys(pretty much the same film from two different perspectives)
