Roof open or closed, why the problem??

Spend all that money to have a roof on out stadium and half the time we aren't allowed to use it. News flash, Wales is rainy as fuck, we have good harvests, nice lambs that live in lush fields because it's a wet country. We should be allowed to close our stadium roof and enjoy the luxury of dry grass.
Why do other teams oppose it!? |

didn't know visiting teams, could dictate open or closed! It's your (Wales) venue, it should be your rules (open or closed) If they don't like it,don't come (bit like Fabs!!).

It's the visiting team that has to agree to having the roof closed. It's mainly Enhland that oppose it. It's as if they think it's a bad omen after what happened in 2013  |

Probably because Rugby is supposed to be an outdoor sport. |

I know but given the choice to play under a closed roof where it's sheltered from the elements, the wind and rain, you'd think people would welcome the better conditions. Plus the fans can stay warmer and dryer. It's cold in that stadium with the roof open at this time of year! |

It increases the atmosphere in favour of wales as its a home game,any advantage is a good advantage,but if wales are that good ,why do they need any advantage,wales are clear favourites even with England's recent form,their record in cardiff speaks for itself |

Because it's an outdoor sport and with 70000 Welsh in there the atmosphere would be to your advantage. Leave the damn thing open it's not a pop concert it's sport  |

As with most sport at that level there's a lot of game playing before the game.

But the opposing teams benefit from the better conditions as well. Dry grass isn't slippery, no wind to disrupt balls being kicked. |

But both teams benefit from that but only Wales benefit from the atmosphere side of things, if I was Eddie Jones and had the call, I'd have the roof opened and no Welsh support allowed and have the referee from England.. |

But the grass isn't dry, because it is basically inside the grass sweets and forms a dew which makes the grass and thus the ball very slippy,
With the roof open the grass can breath and as such is a better playing surface, even if it's raining |

Because that's who you should be whining at, if the roof is the issue.
Surely Welsh supporters are atmospheric in all circumstances, even outdoors?  |

I am going to sound like a purist.... I don't think the should be shut
It's an outdoor game.... let the teams adapt to the conditions
They want it closed to try and protect the surface... anyone knows that surface is normally shocking for rugby |

They have replaced it with a synthetic surface so it is a lot better now.
Closing the roof is partly to keep the noise in and partly to make sure the conditions are better for good running rugby rather than attritional stuff in the wet.
None of the Southern Hemisphere sides have ever had an issue with the roof being closed as it means a dry ball that is better to play with. Surely England would want the same if they are going to be more 'daring'?

Could it possibly be because the Welsh Management would like the roof closed regardless of the weather, because they feel that the atmosphere is to their advantage.
The only time the roof should be closed for a Rugby match is if the match would otherwise need to postponed. They're used to playing in the rain and wind, it's part of the British game.

Yeah we're welsh we can sing under water, I'm just thinking it will be a bit chilly like, it's awful cold you know
