Fellow Faber spotted?

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

I'm really curious. What is the etiquette and protocol for when / if you spot a fellow faber? Maybe you're on a train or in a cafe. You just happen to spot the app format on their phone?! Now what? A knowing smile? A "who's near" search? What? Or maybe nothing? Any stories anyone?

Silence - discretion.

Then home to wank over the fact you've recognised someone

Do nothing. I don't mind a knowing smile but anything more is just rude and obtrusive IMHO. Xxx

Don't do anything - it isn't your place to intrude into their privacy...

Don't make the assumption that just because they are on here that they are open to any advance...

This - please don't rush up to them and ask to confirm their username ,,, like a localish person did to me last year ( fortunately I managed to say that I'd never heard of this or any such site )

Shout their user name at them from across the road and mention the site you known them from, also always good to make reference to there new open leg gash shot that you fabbed the night before.

Then message them later asking for a veri

I suspect we're going to be a bit different from lots of replies.

If someone spotted us out and about we'd love a PM to let us know.......

As long as it was a bit cheeky with a sense of fun. Something like a "hope you're enjoying that coffee" kind of thing.

Weird and stalky would probably have us running for the hills.....

I bumped into the female half of a couple I had a threesome with, at Christmas Eve Mass.

Needless to say the etiquette was to panic, as we were both with our mams, totally blank each other and then message to laugh about it afterwards.

But as for spotting someone I don't know, it's only happened once but I just ignored her completely, because she wouldn't have had a scooby who I was.

I had a similar scenario at the Panto

Saw a lady from another site when out dog walking, heart rate jumped for a while, then I just ignored her.

I told her about it a while later and I think that she thought I was stalking her......best to keep these finds to yourself I think.

I wouldn't even want a message.

I've had face photos up in the past, but when I had a message from a faceless photo saying that he had seen me in a certain place late the previous night - which was exactly where I was - I've changed my location, turned my 'who's near' feature off and I'm more cautious about displaying face photos too.

It felt like the most comically inappropriate place for it to happen

I would use the who's near for perving purposes but then leave it at that, if they took my/our fancy then we olwoild contact them via fab but with no mention that we spotted them etc c

A couple of times I've seen ladies in the street who I spotted from on here, I would never dream of approaching them, or even messaging them later to say I saw them. Approaching in the street could be very embarrassing for them, and messaging later saying I saw you would come across as a bit stalker like I reckon! No I just act like it's any other stranger. Conversely if any lady spots me, please feel free to come up and say 'hello big boy!'

I've happily had a few 'spotted' messages, even past people in work etc. A smile and a cheeky message is always fun.

Obviously people do need to be very careful it doesn't overlap into the real world

It would depend on the circumstances.

If it was possible for the op to talk to us without others being near enough to overhear then we would not mind being approached.

If we were in company then we would not want an approach.

I think it depends on the situation, environment, friendship/fabship you have with that person/couple.

I have met the female half of a couple at the airport. Being friends too for a long time, we'd organised dinners and lunches together as I was her bull, but I would rarely bump into either of them on the streets. She was in uniform (stewardess) and we chatted like old mates. I am sure a smile would generally be appropriate in most circumstances though.

Depends, if your not interested in them / compatible then say nothing.

If you are interested and compatible then speak to them without mentioning fab at all, strike up a conversation, pay them a compliment, ask them out for a drink, if it goes well then maybe you'll laugh about it on your wedding day
