I had decided to go for a major career change for my last 8-15 years at work. It was much lower down the organisational chain than I have been for decades and really surprising they had agreed to see me. I guess I'll have to keep doing what I do (which I enjoy a lot) until I see another exciting opportunity in a different direction that grabs me. |

I've got to say I think I am now pinned as an Operational Manager and because I am pretty darn good at building departments and turning them round, I only seem to get hunted for similar roles.
Thing is, I am bolloxed. I don't feel there are many pounds of flesh left to give.
I feel like I need a change and I feel like doing something more 9-5 and regular. I even accept that my salary would probably halve by doing so.
I do, however, worry that most employers would put me in the the 'overqualified' category and give me a wide berth and thus I become stuck on the hamsters wheel.
I am proud of you for trying and I am glad it hasn't steered you away from your long term plan.
Now go get a brew and some crumpet bread down your neck x

I am, generally, pigeon-holed as overqualified for most things and I'm damn good at what I do. I could always take all my pension fund in 3 years. go mad and do something else that way.

Is it wrong to underplay/ not mention your talents/ experience when looking for a job? Surely you fit your cv to the job you are applying for. Could that work?
Otherwise spend time thinking about going mad in 3 years. |
