A Secret Hideaway In the caravan of love |
Have you ever
1 Used a rotary dial telephone?
2 Went to school when students didn't carry cellphones
3 Owned cassette tapes
4 Ridden in a car with no seatbelts
5 Wrote letters to friends and relatives by hand.
6 Played jump rope games, four-square, and hopscotch because Facebook didn't exist.
7 Know what an 8 track tape machine is
8 Turned off the TV because programming was finished for that day
9 Played PONG on an Atari
10 Used an outhouse? Not a Port-a-Potty...a REAL outhouse
For me & Vinny it is 10 out of 10 |

10 out of 10 for ms and 1 out of 10 for mr! log tables and slide rules take me back too as did walking to school and back and those little bottles of milk that had gone horribly warm by the time the milk monitor dished them out. Those were the days when a blackberry was something you picked from a hedgerow to make jam and a tweet was a sound that birds made. |

Ex army, so never had the pleasure of an out house We also had the 1 channel, (BFBS) which was a mix of all the english ones, so it must have run later than the channels did here in the UK. Corrie, easteneders, neighbours, home and away and everything were all on the 1 channel, was a shock when I came to England, didnt know what programmes were on which station lol. |

Yep, yep, yep!!! 10 out of 10 or 11 if you count the tin bath in front of the coal fire.
I used to have to go round to the outside toilet in my dressing gown and slippers in the driving snow just for a sit down wee.
And I've still got my Atari 'woody'. It's going on ebay soon. |

"Tin baths in front of the coal fire?"
Tin baths, were a tremondous find when tipped at the base of shale heaps.
An impromptu sledge for a while, down the shale heap of course.
And they dont make pram wheels ( thus soap carts ) like they used to. |

Scored 10 out of 10
I also remember my school rulers measured in inches and my mum kept the milk on the stone shelf in the larder because we didn't have a fridge
And I recorded the charts off the radio using a microphone ... more than one song had me going 'SHHHH' as one of my sisters walked in the room and started talking! |

10/10 for me.....and our outhouse was on the other side of the street and shared with next door!
No-one in our street had a telephone and only one family owned a car.
Telly programes started with the news and watch with mother at lunchtime....then it was just the testcard until about 4pm, however, there were childrens programmes on Saturday mornings. |
