So you meet a guy for the first time, he has booked a table at a lovely restaurant, you enjoy a beautiful meal, the conversation is great and the wine is flowing.
The bill arrives and he produces a Groupon voucher
How would you feel…….

I was on a date at a Mexican restaurant and if you signed up to there loyalty card you got that meal 50% off.
My pride and sense had never had such a huge battle before that day
Anyway, pride won and I never took the 50% |

Surprised that the lovely restaurant did groupon vouchers and then quite amused.
I think there's nothing wrong with it. At all. A few of my ridic wealthy friends do that sort of thing all the time and I think why not? |

Wouldn't bother me at all - why pay more (for anything) than you have to if you can take advantage of offers ? I certainly wouldn't see it as 'cheap' |

I'd like the fact that he'd done a little research and not just plumped for any old easy option. It would probably only be a passing thought as bill payment isn't really something I'd qualify the success or otherwise of the night out by. |

"I think the decerning gentleman if he had a voucher would approach the bar or desk and pay there to avoid any kind of notions.
But then how would the other diner pay half? "
They could ask how much the bill was and pay half. |

Or, check the bill before they take it to the bar and give their half over. Which would mean the bill payer paying less |

"I've never looked at groupon.
If I want to go somewhere I'll go. I'll not be enticed into any establishment because I'm offered £1:50 off a starter. "
If the question was "would you go to an establishment because they offer a £1.50 starter"
That would be a great reply. |

"I usually pay half, so that's less for me to pay, bonus "
This I'm really not that uptight to make an issue over a money saving voucher. Fair play is what I would say. The vouchers are there to be used at the end of the day. |

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest. If the evening has been fun and going well, then what the hell do I care what the bill total is and how it got to that amount.
As I like to pay my own way, then if it leaves more cash for the rest of the evening then bonus |

I've got to agree. I don't think there is anything wrong with it but I wouldn't on a first date.

He would be my boyfriend or at least someone I'd met and shagged quite a few times before I got to the eating infront of them stage, by that point I wouldn't really care if he paid with a sock full of coppers. |

I know if it seems too good to be true it probably is but have researched hotel and it looks very nice. Will just have to wait and see. |

Like I'd met my soul mate lol!
I love bargains and discounts so I'd appreciate his money saving. And let's be honest in this age of austerity if you're too arrogant to consider someone may need to watch the pennies then you need to consider yourself superficial.
No no's on a date in a restaurant would be treated the wait staff like crap, not tipping, having a much more expensive meal/extra drinks then expecting to go 50/50 or using a mobile over dinner |
