We don't really do valentines, it's just a bit too commercial and I'm not very romantic; however as I have some lovely new shoes; this year I'm using Valentines as an excuse to go out and wear them. |

It sucks if you're single and work in an office. Every other woman getting big massive bunches of flowers off their one true love and there is me sat there hugging a pot noodle, fighting back the bitter taste of soy sauce and rejection.. |

We have been a couple for almost 5 years. For the first 2 or 3 years he was away on lads holidays at Valentines & i received a beautiful bouquet each time he was away.
Now... a card! Not to whinge (but i am) but you can buy a lovely bunch from lidl for £3. Stop been tightwads you guys. And before the sexist brigade come on, i have purchased a groupon for a meal at Bella Italia (a cheaper option but as funds are limited i figure offering to drive so he can have a drink makes it fairer)...

Its an ugh for me but I'm not into PDA's and firmly believe if someone loves you they don't need to wait to be caught up in the hype of valentines day to show you!

It should be renamed Hallmark/ Moonpig profit-surge-day.
We will do cards but make an effort to do little things for each other all year round, it feels meaningless when it's just because it's "expected" of you x |

I'm not a fan of Valentine's day itself, but I like the sentiment. Usually we'll cook eachother dinner of some kind (I just do the starter because I can't be trusted with anything more complicated  ).
We also choose a different weekend and go away on a short trip and use Valentine's day as an excuse. You can never have enough excuses to take weekend holidays  |

As if Valentines day didn't already suck enough from mostly being single or in a shit relationship, last year it became the anniversary of my beautiful Mums passing. I miss her terribly. |

Some people say its commercial, but i like valentines.
We love each other every day of the year, but still nice to have this "special" day.
And its my birthday, so we celebrate it together surrounded by hearts, roses and love in the air.

I gotta admit it would be nice to get something. Doesn't even have to cost money, could just be someone's time, effort. Knowing I was being thought about, and planning and thought had gone into doing something to make me feel special, wanted. |

What's worse is being married and your man "forgets" every year, despite the shops/supermarkets/petrol stations being full of valentine cards and suchlike. Your (married/attached) mates gush about what romantic surprise their man gave them that morning and do a check round to see what you got, (or not). Then he gets quizzed at work 'what did you get the missus?', so on his way home, he stops at the nearest petrol station and you get what they had left. Last thing I ever got from him was a plastic red rose in a plastic tube. I wish I'd had a tub of lube, I could have rammed it in his arse and it would have been a Valentine's day for him to remember. |

What a load of wasted money.
It's shouldn't be like that memories are more important than a bit of card to be honest.
So if anyone is thinking of getting me a card don't bother water fight on the beach would go down better. |
