Hartley Hare was in The Pipkins, awesome show. If you look at it now though the puppets are shit! Hartley Hare looks like a used, badly made toilet brush! |

The Tomorrow People.
Always wanted one of them cool black and white belts so I could hook my thumbs behind it and shout, "Let's jaunt, Tim."
It had a well cool opening and closing theme tune too:
Tube it: The Tomorrow People. |

Yes, I remember it! Didn't it star Eddie Albert in his younger days? it was about a young couple running some farm??
My fave programmes were:
Blue Peter.
Magpie.
Banana Splits.
Batman - though our parents banned this in our house, my brother and I would watch this whilst my parents went out shopping on town every Saturday afternoon.

And weren't they the first people to "come out" on British Telly? You would have to know the programme to know what I mean |

swap shop
tiswas
saturday superstore
going live
and alive and kicking
what as ever happened to saturday morning kids tv "
Years ago, I worked for the Guinness World of Records Exhibition at the Trocadero in Piccadilly Circus in London where I was one of the managers.
We hosted quite a number of the live Saturday morning shows as they were then, plus things like Magpie and Record Breakers.
Great fun! You just don't get programmes like them these days, but I suppose times and attitudes have changed |

Playschool.
Used to watch it in the morning, see what window they looked through, when dad came home from work, we would watch together, he would give me 10p if I guessed the correct window.
Not knowing that I had watched it in the morning.
He didnt realise this till he was on holiday, and seen it was on in the morning.
So I lost my daily 10p. |

Sorry to go down the alternative route yet again……
But my "fav prog" as a kid was “Just a Minute on BBC radio 4, and it’s stayed with me all my life, even though some of the guests these days shape-up pretty badly in comparison to those great raconteurs who graced the show way back when the whole world was _iewed through shades of grey and we all spoke with ever-so posh accents… |
