Anyone here a drummer? If so what kit do you have?
Jump to: Newest in thread
"Bought a Roland TD15 KV 2 years ago best bit of kit I've ever bought, 50 different kits and another 50 to programme for yourself. Great sound from it. "
I've got a Yamaha Electronic kit, I use it for practicing at home but I'm not keen on the live experience of playing with electronic. I gigged for about 18 months using just the electronic kit a few years ago, but it's just not the same as playing a "real" kit. |

I know a drummer, I asked him what he has. He said.
'He hits a big one, 2 smaller ones and a couple of metal ones.'
Drummers -There not the smartest are they? |

"I am between kits
That feels like the punchline to one of those "how do you confuse a drummer" jokes.
Haha, like This Drummer's At The Wrong Gig

Double pearl forum series. So two of every thing except the snare
Slipknot signature pearl snare
All with Remo pinstripe skins
zildjian Z custom dyno beat 14" hi-hats
Z Custom 16" crash
Z custom 18" crash
A custom 16" crash
Z custom 20" ride
Oriental 16" China trash
Zxt 10" splash
Also use a pearl double pedal and pearl hardware for the stands with a quick release clutch on the hi hats

Our Son is a drummer in a band. His drum kit is VERY NOISY Mapex. Sorry can't be more specific but they cost an arm and a leg lol
I love to see him practice. He doesn't let us come to his gigs though. Us oldies would seriously cramp his style.

I started at 13 and over the years from 16+ I started putting money into better cymbals etc.
It's definitely worth it, I was paying up to £200 per cymbal. So when you've got 7 of them it adds up.
They have stood the test of time though. I've got my original kit from being 13 and the cymbals I haven't changed since I finished building the kit at about 18.
Definitely worth investing in the higher end equipment |

I'm a drummer too, I spend many hours banging.
I play a late nineties Pearl Masters maple kit, the snare varies depending on who I'm playing with. Cymbals are a lovely old K 16" crash, KZ HighHats, a couple of A customs, a UFIP splash, some Sabian AAX too.

"I've been thinking about buying my son his first drum kit but I dont know where to start "
It really depends on his level of ability.
If he needs a kit to practice at home, unless you have loads of space and noise is no issue, I would look at electronic kits. They allow a drummer to practice the physical mechanics of playing, they can hear everything through headphones, but you (and the neighbours) just hear a tapping sound.
My recommendations for electric starting kit are either "Roland TD-1DMK" or "Yamaha DTX452K"

Thankyou for that Cal. I'll go have a look at these. |
