Apart from the parental setting on a phone (iphone in this case) do you use any other form of parental controls on your child's phone?
Obviously supervised is best but if you are not around to supervise what can you do to keep a child safe?
I'm looking at apps like netnanny, forcefield and qustodio on top of the parental controls I've already set.
Has anyone any experience with these apps? |

Norton Parental Controls works pretty well for us - is included with their Internet Security product that we use anyway.
Allows you to block sites by content criteria, gives a weekly report that includes details of sites visited, apps downloaded, even who has been texted.
Definitely suits our purposes anyway.

I'm very technically Savvy and understand a lot about data security, so I thought it would be easy to find a suitable app for my kids' phones.
Everything which I tested over a period of months turned out to be overly obstructive and restrictive.
As a result I know rely on trust and education... and the odd little sneaky check now and then everything is ok. |

My two love you tube so just downloaded the kids app, seems to be keeping them happy enough and no dodgy language (although they hear it from me, oops).
They can't download apps without the password, and there are certain things I won't let them have despite it being "child friendly". They use their iPads infront of me so can see and hear what they are watching/doing. Haven't yet investigated patentable security apps but feel it will be on my list to do. |
