If anyone from virgin media rings on either 0700 or 0845 it is a scam also if a virgin media agent asks for full password as virgin media ask for three characters only example.

Green689 if ask for three characters say first third and last so you would say G E 9

Hope this is good advice.

So really your advice is:

Never give out your full password over the phone..

Well fuck me really.

It seems something people should know. The fact it happens means that some people will trust anyone.

Or more accurately....if someone phones you and asks for your full password.....they are not a Virgin Media representative...

There and to the left a bit

Sadly there are far too many of these scammers about and they DO have some success, especially with the less tech savvy out there, such as the elderly who don't necessarily "get" the ins and outs of some of these scams.

So any warnings, no matter how trivial they may seem to some, are worthwhile.

Unfortunately my mum got scammed just before Christmas. Yes don't give out details but these scammers are clever, very clever! We learnt a very important lesson but it does happen. So a reminder for people is useful.

That said, when it's an obvious scammer and I have time on my hands I do enjoy playing them along for as long as I can - had one the other day, supoosedly from BT (we're on Sky!!) reporting issues with my PC and wanting me to run through a script to fix it, that presumably would have given him remote access to my PC (and any secure information on it) - played along for several minutes pressing buttons on my "air keyboard" before finally getting bored and hanging up.

Figure if I'm wasting their time, then they're not calling someone else.

Don't be too harsh mate.

You know the recent hullabaloo over Russia hacking the U.S. government? Well that only happened because half of the U.S. congress replied to an email scam that required them to give their log in details.

There's also that wallet scam to beware of.

While in ASDA packing shopping into the car you may be approached by two very fit Eastern European girls in tight tiny tops. They wash your windscreen with their boobs pressed against the glass and then ask for a lift to the next Supermarket as payment. During the journey they strip down to perform oral to each other on the back seat. One of the girls will then jump into the front seat and 'pleasure you' while the other attempts to steal your wallet.

I had mine stolen last Thursday, Friday, Saturday and twice on Sunday ....... So be careful

PS: You can buy wallets for 99p in PoundStretchers
