Horror movie deaths

What death scenes in horror movies have you ever considered gruesome and somewhat unsettling?

For me, it has to be the death of the alien newborn in Alien Resurrection. I pretty much found this rather gruesome in how this scene was executed as it looks so over the top and extremely brutal.

The newborn's screams are horrific as you can almost feel it's feelings of pain and fear while it was being sucked out into space from the inside out. The music that accompanies the scene is unsettling and really does give it a horror movie feel.

Herts

Saw III? (I think?) where the black guy has all of his limbs twisted.

It was the fear in his face when the neck mechanism engaged.

Couldn't un-see that for a long time...

can't remember which film exactly but it was one of the Final Destination films, where the two girls burn to death in the tanning place.

that stayed with me for a while, think because of their screams

Quite a few of the 'Saw' deaths are horrifically gruesome. But that's why I enjoyed the movies, I'm a fan of gory horror.

I deliberately avoid watching gore fests if I can now.

I used to watch tons and certain moments stick in my memory. Must be getting soft as I get older.

Ah that would be Final Destination 3. Yeah it is pretty unnerving how drawn out these girls were killed in a slow pace of being roasted alive in the tanning booths

Any of the 'torture porn' films - Hostel, Saw etc.

House of 1000 Corpses and most deaths in Rob Zombie films. I find them a bit much.

Videodrome, Barry Convex's death. .

And the death of Gaston. Truly horrible and really unsettled me when I was young.

I'm not a fan of any saw movies etc, not the type of 'horror' I like, as I prefer supernatural based horrors.

I did find 'The Green Inferno', quite disturbing, I guess it was because the tribal villages inhabitants appeared genuine.

The deaths in the film Se7en were horrific to me, I think even more so because you didn't actually see the death occur ...the "lust" one with the deadly strap on is one that always haunted me.

I used to be a big fan of gory horror fims, but cant watch them anymore since I became a mum

Nah. The Sarlaac kinda absorbs their prey and they are kept alive over the centuries of digestion. I dunno the how. But it is about as good as Goerge Lucas making little tiny cells in your body responsible for the force

I find 99.9% of horror film deaths are in no way disturbing because of how cartoonish they are.

That said, Snowtown has a horrific one in it. It feels very real.

And in non-horror movies: Irreversible. Fire Extinguisher + face

The music that accompanies the scene is unsettling and really does give it a horror movie feel."

"Death proof the car accident scene she gets her leg cut off and the tire rolles over the face of the girl in back seat all in slow motion

That's not a horror film. That's one of my favourite chick flicks. "

I've just remembered seeing this death scene from Wishmaster 2 where this guy wishes he was never born and he de-ages to the point of non-existence. This was really disturbing especially when you see him as a foetus as it gets smaller and smaller until there is nothing. What makes it worse is hearing his screams go from man to child to baby foetus which is horrifying

couple, us we him her.

As a young boy I used to love sitting up on a Saturday night and being allowed to watch the horror double bill on bbc2.

It was always a bw film followed by a colour one usually a hammer house of horror dracula.

However on this one occasion I watched the abominable Dr phibes staring Vincent price.

Who lavished all peculiar methods of murder on his victims.

One that gave me a life long fear of scorpions was a scene where a guy was put in a chair in the shape of a giant scorpion.

The claws clamped his hands in place and the key was put in a porcelain thing next to him.

Left alone he figured smash the figurine and retrieve the key.

However it was full of deadly scorpions who proceeded to climb all over him and sting him to death.one crawling down his trousers.

Pretty tame stuff but at the time scared the shit out of me.

They did try in Covenant, but honestly I found it too difficult to watch the second burster. Mind you, it was about 10 years before I could watch that scene in Alien because I thought he was going to vomit! Once I realized he wasn't, I was fine

A bloke has to choose between having his ass drilled to death or mouth.

Honestly no movie death has ever made me hate it as much as this.

It wasn't a death scene, but in the 2010 remake of Mother's Day (starring the delicious Rebecca De Mornay) a character gets boiling water poured over his head. I managed to shut my eyes in time but I couldn't block out the hideous screaming.

There's a couple of deaths in 'Kill List' that unsettled me.

Not a horror but Murphy's death in Robocop is not nice to watch. His screams are horrible. Saw it countless times as a kid though and it never bothered me that much, disturbed me more as I got older.

Who remembers the deaths in the remake of The Blob?

Very creative effects but sure look terrifying on screen. The thought of being engulfed in a slimy living substance and digested and absorbed alive does sound like a horrific way to be killed in a horror movie.

Yeah it sure was. It was good how they did the scene where the blob attacks the movie theatre. That sound the projectionist makes while he is being absorbed does sort of go through me as he sounds like he's trying to puke.

I've just remembered an action/horror movie called Deep Rising which did have some messed up scenes.

The scene when they shoot one of the tentacles of this sea monster and it releases a half digested body of one of their friends called Billy who is still alive despite is pretty messed up.

What is very disturbing and horrifying is finding out what happened to the passengers and crew of the cruise liner when one scene shows our remaining characters entering a huge room which is littered with bloody red skeletal remains of the passengers and crew. What is even more horrifying about that scene is that you can hear the haunting echo of their screams in their last moments before they died.

Thought I'd bump this to add another movie to the list with having disturbing deaths and that is Species 2.

I always found the deaths of impregnated women in this movie quite disturbing especially in one scene which I won't say as I don't want to frighten anyone here who is expecting.

I wouldn't be surprised if Species 2 gave pregnant women nightmares more than the movie Alien did.

It’s the same with a similar scene in the Killing Ground.
