Loud music in cars

Sheffield

We live on a fairly busy main road but normally barely notice any noise from traffic.

At the moment there are road works with temporary traffic lights, meaning traffic stops outside our house.

At night there is actually more noise now, coming from occasional cars stereos. For it to get in the house and to our living room at the back, they must have it on earbleeding level volume!

How do they cope with it and actually hear anything else?

There is not much you can do. Just have a word with them if you can. If you get any abuse, pouring paint stripper very serrupticiously over their roof gives some satisfaction. Nitromorse is good.

From a road safety POV, music that loud is a massive distraction.

From a passer by POV it makes me laugh

Their car, their ears, up to them the volume they choose. They may live to regret it when they are shopping for hearing aids though

I wear headphones most days. Pretty sure I'll be deaf by the time I'm 50...

In my younger days i use to customize my cars one of them blasted 158 dB that is nearly loud as a plane taking off. Lol. Sorry to all back then.

Brilliant when having sex in the back the ladies use to say they felt nice vibrations.

It is up to the individual yes, however, so long as it isn't a distraction to what's going on around them.

I.e. Could they still hear the sirens of emergency vehicles who may be needing to pass quickly, or the papping of a horn of another vehicle with a warning of a hazzard they have not seen.

Maybe not no, but car systems are made to go loud so inevitably some people will play then loud. It's not illegal.

The speaker volume is not illegal no, and rightly so for people to enjoy as they see fit.

However, most of the time loud music means car share and 'dance moves' while driving, which is then distracting from the road......

However driving as a deaf person is not illegal, so it's not the actual volume, it's a matter of how distracted the driver is from the road.

How did you manage to do 158dB and still have room for sex in the back? A 158dB build would put you as one of the loudest builds in the uk currently.

I don't care in terms of complaining, I just chuckle to myself.

I like having it on 'loud' , especially for some music, but not so it is still loud 50 metres away!

It's up to them, I suppose at 17 I would have imagined myself to be cool doing that too lol.

They think it's cool. Bit like ghetto blasters on the beach back in the day.

Car audio is my vice...you don't understand what loud feels like until you've sat in an SPL car

I can't see how the guy above saying 158dB and having sex in the back is possible...the amount of air being moved at that level you can't even see or breathe properly at that pressure level.
