Here's to you on Burns Day
Unfortunately I'm away from home tonight, so won't be getting my slice, but will toast him with a wee dram or two "

Thou need na start awa sae hasty,

O my Luve's like a red, red rose,
That's newly sprung in June:
O my Luve's like the melodie,
That's sweetly play'd in tune.
As fair art thou, my bonie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a' the seas gang dry.
Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi' the sun;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o' life shall run.
And fare-thee-weel, my only Luve!
And fare-thee-weel, a while!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho' 'twere ten thousand mile! |

"Happy Burns Night to you all, but Christ he was a terrible poet. this could turn into fireworks night, now... "
Not the intention, it'a fairly well recognised he was shite. I've never understood why him in particular gets celebrated when there is a pantheon of great, world-enlightening Scottish Enlightenment thinkers that could have been chosen. No, lets go with the guy who writes his poems a bit Scottish like. |

I'm of the school of thought that as long as your heart is in it then your poem is worthy of the highest acclaim. It's not easy baring ones soul for ones art (Says the bird who recites her Whatsapp threads at poetry jam) |

"Burns was actually a great poet and social commentator
Now, if you want a bad poet take a gander at William McGonagall "
I was introduced to McGonagall at the weekend. Brilliant |
