The "i recognise you/where that pic was taken" approach

Jump to: Newest in thread

Has this ever worked for anyone?

Or has anyone ever thought it was a good idea?

I've had it in the past usualy people recognizing the gym changing room or saying they've seen me in the gym.

As a first message and usualy from a no pic profile it just comes across as super creepy.

I just don't get how any one thinks it could possibly be a good idea?

This happened to me last year, a women messaged me cause she recognised the building over the road behind me in one of my pics, she only lived down the road from me, our sons used to play together when they where younger.

She has since left fab but still chat to her.

Yes, but it turned out they didn't know me, it was one of those "i'm going to pretend to know you to see if you crap yourself and panic, for a laugh" tossbag messages.

They think it breaks the ice.

.

When looking locally I do see if I recognise them or see were someone's outside pictures where taken,

Does anyone else play who lives in a house like this when the pictures have loads of stuff in the back ground, Books, Furniture, accessories etc

Yea I've had a few of those thinking they remember me from another site and I know full well I don't

End up arguing and blocking ...simplest alternative

Our neighbour recognised our living room.

Which turned out to be a bonus

Shrewsbury

Had a few that have said they recognised me but I don't hide my face or the fact we swing.

The odd ones have been when I was in someone else's house and I got told it was my kitchen in a pic.

Also the exact location of a tree I'm bent over was a bit creepy

There's a woman who lives down the road from me that I am 99% sure is on here. She doesn't look quite the same in her dressing gown as she does in her profile pic.

I did wonder that if I walked past and said 'fab morning this morning' she would twig and we'd end up having some naked fun together.

Then I thought 'don't be a dickhead' and carried on with my day

It's a creepy approach.

I crop out anything I think will be a distinguishable feature.

Funny that, I've just had a message on pof asking where my pic was taking as they recognised the pub. Only I was in a completely different city at the time it was taken, there are going to be numerous pubs that look familiar, same as gyms; unless they do something completely different they'll probably look familiar to most.

To say I was freaked is an understatement..

Turns out it's my next door neighbours

They don't meet single guys and it's too close to home for me but we chat if we see each other outside lol..

Why would you display a picture that has a location that is easily identifiable, if you were worried?

Had a couple of guys say I'm the one who works in the gym and that they came in earlier.

Not the guy I actually fancy though so that's a bit shit, at least they were respectful enough to message on here and not approach me.

I'd be mildly worried if that happened to me, since most are taken in my house or my garden....

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I've had messages from men who claim to know me. On closer questioning they decide not to reply, so I assume they do it to scare women into meeting them, and don't like it when I obviously don't care.

Live in Scotland Play in England

Never had anyone say they recognise me/us (we don't display face pics) but had the odd message where someone recognised the place a photo was taken. Nothing sinister about that though since hotel chains have a consistent interior design so it's not possible to pin down a location.

One fab member recognised the hotel where a profile photo was taken since he is a member of the gym in that chain. Next trip down, met him in the jacuzzi there for what was a rather hot and steamy wee meet

1 guy messaged as within half a mile, and he'd never seen it say less than a mile. we chatted briefly and i realised that hes 1 of the support staff at an assisted living unit a few doors away. we'd actually met several times as hes the dickhead that parks right outside my house instead of using the off street parking at the unit.

Im not worried hence why my face is clearly visible.

Im just bemused why anyone thinks "ive seen you at the gym" is a good opening line and not just super creep city.

Especially when they hide thier own identity.

If they've not got particularly good communication skills, plus annoy me, then they'll not get far. It's inappropriate and probably best dealt a swift block.

Yes a "single" man & he was living in the house I'd just moved from & was not so single. Recognised the inside of the house straight away
