I left school in 89, so it was the start of Acid House for me, and for the life of me the only song I can think of is Ride on Time which I absolutely loath.

There and to the left a bit

Left school in 82, so right at the end of the whole Two Tone/Mod/New Wave thing (which I loved) and the beginning of the New Romantic stuff (which I mostly loathed).

Left in 82 - The 6th form common room had a record player that we all chipped in to buy. So we'd bring in our albums and blast the place.

Common room favourites from that time 81/82 were things like

Town called Malice - The Jam

The Hanging Garden - The Cure

Tom Sawyer - Rush

Abacab - Genesis

Gloria - U2

Don't break my heart again - Whitesnake

Run to the hills - Iron Maiden

Just to name a few...

I don;t think I had any musical taste beyond that of my parents at that age.

Music came later for me.

"OMG I lived in an era when Ken Dodd was number 1 .. oh good grief "

My mum confessed to me the other day that she loves two songs of Ken Dodd. One was Happiness and i forgot the other (a soppy one) in an attempt to block out this unexpected turn of events.

Fleetwood Mac, Ah-Ha, Heart, and Lisa Stansfield for me. Tango in the Night had been released in 87 so i played that and the Dirty Dancing Soundtrack. Also had the Top Gun Soundtrack.

My friends were into Bros, Kylie, Jason Donovan and Sonia.

My mate used to play the Buster soundtrack continuously everytime i popped round.
