I've actually read on some forums that for any place that doesn't have any fencing or signage (that used to be a public place like a theme park) technically it's not trespassing.

Before I get beaten, I don't know how true this is of course

I just know that up here you can't get done for trespassing. If there's a 'private property' sign I'd still go in. Provided you're not doing any harm I'm not sure anyone would care. I guess if there's a safety issue you should probably apply a dollop of common sense but in general, I'd take my chances.
