It sounds like the police new about the accounts and have dismissed them from the enquiry so nit sure why they weren't hidden at the time. Someone was always going to out them |

I have to say, this is one of the reasons that publicly uniformed members have always been advised by me to be smarter about their military connections on here.
If I get speculative mail, using their uniform as their USP, I advise that it's a potential security risk.
I do hope he is found safe and well but I think it is unceasingly unlikely.

They didn't delete the accounts in case they could provide leads in the case . Then some dickhead Reddit user decided to post a link to his account .
Therefore he family felt like they had no choice but to come out and announce their presence on this site so they could at least have some control on how people found out |

I suspect what will happen is local journalists etc will join to see if they can spot any local well known people from the region. Politicians, council members, business men or women etc.
The missing guy will become secondary to the local hacks looking to get some dirt on anyone in the area.
It's at times like this the whole face pic question comes into focus again.

She? His mum? Who is possibly out of her mind with worry and doing everything she can think of to help find her son?
In cases like this, 'proof of life' investigations will have taken place as soon as as it was known he used a site such as this. The same with social media, bank accounts, phone records etc. These investigations would have been known to the press, so presumably his mother was ending speculation by confirming his use of this site.

I read 'the' as 'she', it seems you may have meant 'they' (the press). I'm which case, they have reported facts and it didn't come across to me as overly sensational (I read the TelegraphMedia story). |

According to some of the papers today he was seen at a local dogging site an hour after he was last seen on cctv in the town. The witnesses said they had reported this to the police, and it stood out at the time because it was cold to be out just in a shirt, and matched the clothes he was wearing that night. But it doesn't sound like the police believe it was him that was seen as it didn't tally with mobile phone signal.
The poor chap hadn't been found yet so you never know. thought it worth mentioning here just in case it could have been a genuine sighting. |
