The Collector.

I didn't think I was going to make it to the end of it in the cinema but was too embarrassed by my pathetic fear I stayed put and endured it!

Horror movies are not for me.

"A serbian film"

With things such as 'new born porn' featured in this, raping your own son and wife, and killing a man by ripping out his eye and fucking the eye socket, cutting off a womans head whilst fucking her 0- OF COURSE None of this is real!

This film is disgusting. After further research (after watching) it's meant to be a commentary on serbian politics.

The Exorcist and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

I heard the BBFC wouldn't give The Exorcist a video release for years because they knew kids would get to see it on video and there's no bad guy who gets his cumuppance in the end.

The scariest part of TCM is the guy slashing his hand with a razor at the start. I thought if that's what they[re starting with what else is coming?

talking of nazi's there is a film where dirk bogarde is (quite oddly) cast as a former nazi concentration camp guard.

i think it's called 'the night porter'

in the film he has a sado masochistic relationship with charlotte rampling who was 1 of his former prisoners.

there is a scene where charlotte rampling dances semi naked for a room full officers

that is a disturbing yet strangely erotic scene

Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens released in the 1920's still has some scary scenes that stay with me even now.

The scariest bit being the iconic scene of the shadow of Nosferatu (Count Orlok) climbing up a staircase in shadow.

I have different films for different ages.

When I was 5 Wizard of Oz scared the shits out of me.

The Exorcist gave me the willies at 13

Since I've become a jaded grumpy old man, very little scares me but I agree with Fabio, the original Japanese version of The Ring was very creepy.

Something about the Blair Witch Project made me feel uneasy as well but I can't say I thought the film was that great.

The 'Executions' video, while this might not quite fit the bill of 'Horror Films' it is indeed horrific and very disturbing. I think it got banned although I can't think why, other than the fact it would probably turn just about everyone against capitol punishment. Watch it and then feel ashamed of the fact of being of the same species as the people that do such things.

"The Human Centipede. That is one sick film. just official heard its getting ban from the uk "

It's the second film that's been banned.

I don't think it should be banned at all.

Too many people (idiots) in the present age believe film is about being entertained. It's not, and never has been.

It's about putting you through emotion.

Film is about something far more ancient and necessary to humans than we realize; Story, structure, and a hero.

For thousands of years humans have told stories to inspire one another, sitting round campfires, explaining how the hero did this and that, how characters in the story died and prevailed. The list is endless.

It has NEVER been to entertain EVER. It has been to put us through emotions that we couldn't feel other wise, to inspire us and to MOVE us. To challenge us and to make us think.

A film banned is an idiot who cannot try or want to understand something they find challenging.

When it finally came on tv I told my girls it was the only film that really scared me and they shouldn't watch it.

I watched the Exorcist when I was 14 and it scared the bejesus outta me. Now it doesn't seem scarey at all.

The Omen was totally different though as that film got into my mind in a way the Exorcist never could. To this day I'm still not a huge fan of horror films and that's probably down to those two films alone.

First one is still available, and won't be banned. The second has been banned in the UK. Which I am grossly upset about, banning it will make little difference, you will still be able to buy it in other European countries, and it will just make it more sought after.

To be honest i saw the human centipede a couple of weeks ago and found it hilarious , however the bbfc have just banned the follow up as too extreme for british cinema or video release.

Though the first saw film was brilliant and if they'd left it at tha it would have gone down as one of the greatest horror films ever but the sequels just ruined it.

For me 'Seven' with Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman is the most disturbing film ive seen , the final scene where he opens the box is proper chilling..

As Invictus mentioned Nosferatu was extremely disturbing for its time, I love the shadow scene and the rising upright from the coffin.

I am freaked by the Hostel films too, I always think of them when I have to hand my passport into the hotel when I first check in.

The Exorcist frightened me, a little girl talking in a mans voice, horrible.

Paranormal Activity too, I'm scared by ghosts and I was scared to leave the bedroom door open in case it slammed in the night

A lot of films these days sem to do gore simply for the shock factor, no wonder its called torture porn! Films like Saw & Hostelhave to get grosser with every new episode, simply for the hell of it, not to add to the story.

Several films I have found scary or disturbing, gross even but not so bad I turn off in disgust (I may well turn off due to it being a crap film though)but the only one I couldnt watch till the end was "Fall of the House of Usher"

There are a few that have stuck with me, namely:

Eraserhead, The Begotten, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Last House on the Left and Ringu.

Then there's the remake of The Wicker Man with Nic Cage - which is disturbing for other reasons

Grave of the fireflies has to be one of the worst for me. It's a Japanese cartoon by one of their biggest anime studios who are known for family friendly movies.

The film's about a brother and sister trying to survive at the end of WW2.

They don't. If the film could be summed up in three words i'd go for "It gets worse"

"My daughter is trying to persuade me to watch The Human Centipede."

I've seen that. Its gross and pointless, not even a particularly good horror film. Though the bad guy is creepy. I hear they are making a sequel with 7 people sewn together. I guess the problem for me was that it sounded quite sexy until you discover that a human centipede is nothing like an oral daisy chain. It soon loses its appeal then.

""A serbian film"

With things such as 'new born porn' featured in this, raping your own son and wife, and killing a man by ripping out his eye and fucking the eye socket, cutting off a womans head whilst fucking her 0- OF COURSE None of this is real!

This film is disgusting. After further research (after watching) it's meant to be a commentary on serbian politics.

That film is awful! Its the first film I have ever turned off for being too disturbing.

Disturbing .....for me reality is more shocking than horror or murder stuff ,So i think i got to say, Saving Prvate Ryan did it for me the first 30 minutes in particular which litersally put you on that beach, especially if seen in a THS cinema..i found the guy dieing on the battlefield calling for his mother ,sobering ,the captured german digging his own grave and saying anything to save his life...its a film i rated for its realism and showed the horror of war.

Apparently the BBFC have refused to certify the DVD of The Human Centipede II

Reply privately, Reply in forum +quote or View forums list

By *ushroom7Man  over a year ago

Bradford

According to the BBFC, The Human Centipede II is "sexually violent, and potentially obscene", and poses "a real, as opposed to a fanciful, risk that harm is likely to be caused to potential viewers".

humancentipede

The Board explains: "The principal focus of The Human Centipede II is the sexual arousal of the central character at both the idea and the spectacle of the total degradation, humiliation, mutilation, torture, and murder of his naked victims."

It adds: "There is little attempt to portray any of the victims in the film as anything other than objects to be brutalised, degraded and mutilated for the amusement and arousal of the central character, as well as for the pleasure of the audience."

Bradford

David Cooke, director of the BBFC, rejected the idea of cutting the film to satisfy the Board. He concluded that "given that the unacceptable content runs throughout the work, cuts are not a viable option in this case and the work is therefore refused a classification".

The Hollywood Reporter notes that despite plenty of net coverage, including this trailer (NSFW), The Human Centipede part one didn't stir up much interest on this side of the Atlantic. The Human Centipede II wasn't presented for British cinema release, and unless the distributor of the DVD launches a successful appeal within six weeks, the movie won't (legally) be coming soon to a small screen near you.

Torrents it is then. If you want it.

Popular rumour has it that SPR was previewed by a cinema full of old boys who had actually been at the D-Day landings. When asked afterwards nearly all of them stated that no film had ever truly portrayed what those beaches werre like until this film. They said that you were only aware of the 10 feet around you, not what was going on further down the beach and that one minute you'd be running up the beach with a comrade and the next minute he simply wasn't there. All the film needed to do to complete the horrors of that day was to broadcast the smell of dying flesh.

gorefest horror films rarely disturb me - there is a difference between being scared or shocked and being disturbed.

films that make us think about the human condition and the depths to which it can sink are truly the most disturbing.
