what does everything involve?

I'm with sky and I pay £30 pm for line rental and broadband and I have a youview box for entertainment (free) but I pay £4.99 a month to get all the films I want on now tv, I also get amazon prime and Netflix, both of which are cheaper than any package with sky tv

I've never had any issues with Virgin, we've been with them for about 15 years. Nobody else matches their broadband speed, if the hardware breaks THEY fix it for free... and you don't have any problems with signal quality whatever the weather is doing.

I have Sky and Virgin.

I have my broadband, phone and a basic TV package with two boxes (bedrooms).

I have the full sky tv package (front room).

I'm paying approx £120 for all of it!!

The last time I tried to use just one and checked out the price I'd have saved about £3 either way. So I just left it as it was

Had Cable & Wireless, then NTL, then Virgin. Never had a BT line since I moved into this house (resent having to pay line rental in my "package", but not having the phone line would increase my subs by £9 a month - bonkers) Virgin are superb, technical issues (rare) sorted very quickly, I pay for 150mb broadband and usually clip in at 160mb. But recent job loss means I'm gonna reduce to 50mb and get a kodi amazon stick.

Virgin all the way.... for £50 + you get the best Internet connection and all your equipment are covered. You don't have to pay extra if an engineer need to be visit in case of a device fault.

Sky use BT (Openreach) so the maximum speed you'll get is way less than Virgin. Virgin has their own network and cable system.

both providers tend to give better deals to new customers, rather than existing ones.

swap each year, getting a cheap "come back" offer.

im with virgin myself, have a zgemma box hooked up to it too, so get all channels for £80 a year plus about £50 for tv,net and phone. i rang up last year (nov ish) and told them i was going to sky, they knocked nearly £40 off the bill month.

if they just did that in the first place, they'd keep more customers!

Where I live we never had a choice. Only sky covered this area until recently. The last 2 months virgin have been digging every pavement up outside every street and going round the whole village laying the cables, it's a big deal here, was even a community meeting about it! Will be nice to have a choice and see what introductory offers virgin will give to try and convince a whole village to leave sky and come to them.

Your missing the point...if you had sky surely you could have change to BT. .talk talk...plus net. ..EE and even the post office. Go to topcashback and see who is paying out the most for a 12 month contract...the do the same next year....it's not all about sky and virgin. D

Don't forget to go through the topcashback as this reduces your overall monthly costs substantially.

And your chosen new provider will give them notice and you keep your landline number. D

"Move to sky good prices and there customer service is so much better."

I used to work in Sky Customer Services one summer, they are shit shit shit, I mean REALLY shit.

They would send letters to people saying "you can have this amazing offer" then they would ring up, and that deal wouldn't be available to them at all. We couldn't access it at all, it wasn't possible to give them that deal.

Or people would say "oh yeah, I can give you X Y and Z, but my computer is having problems, I'll make a note, call back and my colleague will sort that for you" but it was complete bollocks, there was no possible way to give them that deal.

Incorrect.

Apart from in a very small number of places (I think the total number of customers is about 1% of the UK total), every single Communications Provider (CP) uses the Openreach network.

The speed you get depends on a number of factors, such as distance from the exchange, any aluminium cables, number of joints, how much bandwidth the CP are willing to pay for, and how many people on your leg are with the same provider.

The sky internet is awful compared to my virgin one

The channel choice isn't as good on virgin but still plenty on, you would probably only watch the same channels as you do now so that's probably irrelevant I don't use the phone line ever so can't comment on that.
