I have done in the past. the first few days were hell. evil headaches, grumpy as hell, knackered. once I got passed that I was fine, but if you're going to quit, cut down 1st and avoid the withdrawal headaches.

I quit caffeine fully August 2015 along with booze. It was hellish. I'm now almost 18months later and feeling fantastic without it! First 6weeks I had shakes, angry lashouts, took vit d though and it helped a lot! Goodluck as it is difficult!

I had to detox once for a whole week as I was getting splitting headaches from drinking six cups a day! I know drink a decaf/no. 3 (strength) mix.

In the past I've cut out caffeine after lunch time and always seemed to get better quality sleep.

Have never gone for a full blown stoppage though

.....

It's the one thing I would to give up as I always have trouble sleeping but without that first cup in the morning I'm a zombie.

Isn't caffine more of a stimulant rather than an energy source, false energy if you will as it has no carbs or sugars your body can harvest energy from. A quick high followed by a definite low

I've switched to decaf tea. Don't drink coffee.

I did tend to notice I was more tired at first, but don't feel any different now.

I do still drink Coke in the evening though. So I guess I've reduced rather than eliminated. But I don't drink Coke everyday.

Brighton - even Hove!

I cut down in the new year from about 10 cups to zero. Had really bad headaches for about 3 days, then had 1 cup now I have just 1 cup every day in the week and 2 on Saturday and Sunday. I think I feel better for it but I am combining a cut down in caffeine with the gym.

I only have one cup of coffee in the morning now and then switch to decaf tea (which technically still has caffeine in it though).

Don't be ridiculous!

Nothing wrong with a bit of caffeine in moderation!

What is with this "quit everything and have no joy in your life in January" syndrome

I love coffee and the caffeine hit that goes with it, used to drink three cups of fresh ground a day. Sadly I've been advised by my doctor to give it up . I still drink it twice a week and damn the consequences .

I drink about 5 cups of coffee a day. Compared to a couple of years ago that is a huge drop. Used to live on Red Bull and Monster drinks. About 6 years ago I put myself in hospital after drinking 5 litres of Red Bull in one day.

Now I have black organic coffee for the most part.

I cut out coffee and only drank green tea and water. Felt so much better for it. More energy and healthier general wellbeing.

Yes we cut it out in the new year and it's been amazing

Can get out of bed and wake up easily in the morning (was horrendous before)

Don't really get tired during the day, only in the evening at a normal time

And no more staying up til 1am then not getting up the next day, go to bed at a decent hour now and wake up before the alarm!

It's been a great result for us, the 2/3 days of headaches to get here is well worth it

I feel like someone has given my foggy brain a really good wash and it's back on form again

a quandary, could you change my mind?

Walks in heads to an empty chair and sits down, head bowed down..

In a quiet voice

'I am a addict, I need it morning, noon and night and if I can in-between too'

I have very little caffeine nowadays and havnt for years. I stopped because its bad for my kidneys and my consultant advised it. My kidneys health has improved . I didnt notice any bad side effects when i stopped. Just noticed good things.

When i do have so some its very noticable. One lunchtime i had a decaf coffee and then a but they clearly didnt give me decaf coffee and i had almost instant shakes, sickness, headache and a feeling of fear. I had to go home and sleep. I have never needed artificial stimulants anyway.
