Which is yours?
Mine was Noughts & Crosses by Mallory Blackman which I first read when I was 13ish. It really drove home the idea of how wrong ignorant prejudices are and it's a sentiment still close to my heart. |

"Peter and Jane Ladybird books.
They were the books that I learnt to read from so I suppose they changed my life
But did it keep you reading? "
Yes because I spent up to the age of ten without a TV so read a lot.
My main passion is reading, more than music even. |

The memories of Hadrian by M Youcenar. The style of writing is so light it actually seems to dance on the page. |

Life and Fate by Vasily Grossman. Really helped shape my worldview during my teens and come to terms with humanity's potential for evil, by keeping an eye out for the underlying goodness.
Action Comics 775 was like my bible as a child though. |

To kill a mockingbird - a book that I read when I was at school. It moved me and significantly inspired me.
Otherwise some cheap scary ghost stories that I read when even younger - I was an obsessive book purchaser and reader from that time when I read into the small hours. It dawned on me just how vivid an illustration that a good book can create. |

The, dare I mention it the controversial Christian Grey books.....They got me into reading erotica stories which then led to us taking the plunge to swing and actually fulfill some of our fantasies.

For me there are a few that have changed my life for the best and opened my eyes
Boys Own Books ,,from the thirties ans forties ,,as a boy I loved their action packed adventure stories
Swallows and Amazons , let children be children let them enjoy their imagination and curiosity.
Mindfulness
by Mark Williams, Danny Penman
This book taught me to relax , enjoy life and live for the moment.

Forever by Judy Blume. Opened my eyes to a whole new world I was not aware of as a teenager. I'll never think of the name 'Ralph' in the same way ever again.... |

I was an avid reader when I was a girl and read anything I could get my hands on. I remember enjoying Enid Blyton and Diana Wynne Jones. I quickly progressed to the classics like Pride and Prejudice but my absolute favourite is Wuthering Heights which was initially a very difficult read but I think I've read it every year at least once a year since I was 14 and I love it so much.
LOTR - I still have my original copies. I was a bit of a geek when I was younger and often sent love letters in Elvish to lads at school.

I have read from early as age, forever with a nose in a book.. The one that changed me in some way... The Simarillion by Tolkien... I read this before hobbit (although heard that on jackonory) it opened me up to 'adult' literature and I started nicking Fleming, Francis and Roald Dahl books from my grandfather's bookcase.. I was about 10 |

The Winner, by David Baldacci. Found a copy while I was travelling in my late teens. It was the first book that I can remember really enjoying and it spurred me on to read more and eventually study literature at uni...fat lot of good that's done me! |

I dint thibk I've read life changing fiction...although a few stand out, The Rats when i was a kid for how words can conjour vivid imagination, Trainspotting for the sheer innovation of text and (as corny as it counds) Catcher in the Rye for the sheer exuberance of being young and free.
Recent books of note that made me just delight in the sheer beauty of books were Ready Player One, Into the Silence (mallory and everest) and Season of the Witch which is a delightful trawl through san Francisco counter culture 60s to 80s |

Nothing to see here. Please move along. |
If it moves kiss it. I can't remember who it was by. It was about American airforce nurses. I was about 14 or 15. Bit saucy but extremely funny. To this day I can't look at a machine and not smile |

I read a lot when I was young fiction and non fiction, but I think the pop culture of the summer of love changed me and shaped my ideals that I still try to live by today.
It has never given me whealth or success but much love and warmth has sustained me through some hard times.
Yes a lover not a fighter, peace and love etc, sounds corny but if we all lived that way the world would be better |

Shantaram - a semi autobiographical story by Gregory David Roberts. It totally unsettled me, leading to quitting my job of 10 years and going travelling. Whilst I didn't go to India I had to see some more of the world and give something back..... |

the readers digest Agatha Christy complete set. I learned to read properly very early, so my parents who to be fair were a bit lax... had nothing else for my eyes to consume... by the age of 5 I knew lots of ways to murder someone, and many of the stupid mistakes that will get you caught |

Great story
I don't think any book I've read has changed my life but I have felt lifted and inspired by many. |

The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins.
It was on the course reading list at university but it came as a complete revelation for someone trying to make sense of the natural world at that age. I know the author has since become over strident and vexatious but I will always be grateful for his changing my view of life. |

Glass Houses, the Morganville vampire series
13 of them in total and read them all, didn't read much as a kid.
As I'm dyslexic, but Eve helped me with that over the years.
and that's what my back piece is about (the book, not my dyslexia)
GEEK alert
Adam. |
