Been in hospital since Monday and little did I know, you have to pay for the TV, first hospital I went too it was free, however this one I was transferred too on wed so far has cost me
£15 for 2 days, all for 24 stations, and don't start me off on there price for Sky.
1 package they advertise 50movies for £5, not bad you think, but the time limit is 6 hrs |

We had this once. I was changed beds twice and was told the TV wed paid for was non transferable between beds or wards. Had paid for maximum package as knew I'd be there a while too. So fuming. Last room I was in didn't even have the TV. Feeling your pain. |

I spent 10 days in Hospital in April used My Ipad every day, ALL hospitals have wifi, watched TV, youtube, ffs this is why people are leaving this site in droves common language. |

Exactly. If the money made from it was going into NHS coffers then fine. I suspect they see very little of it, if any.  |

I have had 3 stays in hospital over the past 4 years and i didnt watch any tv while there.
Once i was well enough i used my phone to read news items etc. I read my Kindle. Mostly i did physio and chatted to the lovely staff and patients. The time went very quickly. |

Your own TVs must be pack tested and there is know way the hospital has time to do that, I don't as said mind paying towards tv I can afford it but the prices they charge are well over the odds who ever sets the prices. There are a lot of old people on my ward who are more than likely on pensions, so big chuck of their money going on tv |

People can be fat, smoke do drugs if they wish. Alcohol is a massive drug, granted most people don't have problems but the majority do drink. Imagine the uproar if someone didn't get a treatment because they enjoyed a bottle of prosesscco most weekends. The NHS problems are due to a lot of factors including bad management, paying ridiculous sums to outsides consultants who do little more than rip
Them off. People don't realise how lucky they are to have it. If you're that bothered by the lack of TV, bring a laptop, some DVD box sets and a few books and rotate ever couple of days. Or even better download your favourite
Sky shows to said laptop and watch them without wifi. It's called sky go, a trained monkey could use it, and it would stop this bitching  |

Not all treatment is down to drugs, keeping patients happy goes along way to getting them well, and as I have stated I don't mind contributing to my tv just think the bundles they offer are well above what they need to be |

There are a lot of old people on my ward who are more than likely on pensions, so big chuck of their money going on tv"

FYI there is no scientific evidence gives you cancer, in many cases it purportedly helps. It's the tobacco that gives you cancer however I digress. As for choosing a life time on the dole, perhaps your _iew of society is misguided by such tabloids as the daily mail or sun. Whilst I admire your vigour and poor punctuation I can only pity you for your misinformed _iews about society as a whole.
I will admit some people do solely want to live on handouts, but I'm almost certain that there are millions who have no others choice. Furthermore, ability is nothing without opportunity, unfortunately you could be the most talented person in the world however if you don't get the chance to showcase this how are you ever going to suceed. It's all good and well casting judgement on issues you clearly have no idea about. The reason why I know your wrong is I am from a council estate, born to a single mother of two mixed race kids, who worked when she could (about 20 hours a week) as a cleaner because that was the only job she could get. Didnt make enough money so had to go to the government for so called handouts. As a result her two sons, one is an IT professional with director in his work title (me) the other has his own building firm. She was a smoker and one of these you mention about handouts. My staff are expected to PAT test patient equipment it takes a few seconds and costs pence, I guess it depends on if you have a NHS hospital with NHS staff or a PFI built hospital where patient Entertainment was built into the financial model for getting the return on investment |

But i had to pay 1000s of pounds for visa fees, health screening, send her to college to do the Life in the UK test, All paid by a British man, becasue could not claim a penny yet you can come from Eastern Europe with no ties and claim everything, Is that ok for immigrants, |

Doubtful but I haven't got time to research properly right now. They would pat test contractors equipment when they come in and I am sure we never had to pat test my nan's phone charger when she went to into hospital.

You wouldn't have to anyway, there is a lot of bollocks talked about Portable Appliances Testing, it should be risk assessed so mobile equipment such as vacuum cleaners should be tested on quayerley basis, where as items such has PC's TV''s etc. Can be tested much less frenquently as much as every 5 years because they haven't been portable. PAT testing contractors like to test everything because most get paid on a fixed rate about 80p per item, it's a one day corse to do it they don't even have to be an electrician. |

Never knew chat about Hospital TV _iewing could get so heated!
At the hospitals where i had my children, they both had ward tv's only.
When i went in for my gallstones my little room had a tv (free), after op and onto recovery ward, there was a ward tv only.
I always took in a magazine and puzzlebooks, because there is always drama about what channel is to be watched, how loud the tv is etc.

Frank spent 3 weeks in hospital last summer, followed by lots of appointments, meds & injections at home, 6 sessions of chemo, lost all hair & on Monday had a stem cell harvest in prep for a transplant. This will involve a 3-4 week stay in hospital, part in isolation, an hour away from me & family. He has not complained once.
Stop feeling so entitled.

Frank spent 3 weeks in hospital last summer, followed by lots of appointments, meds & injections at home, 6 sessions of chemo, lost all hair & on Monday had a stem cell harvest in prep for a transplant. This will involve a 3-4 week stay in hospital, part in isolation, an hour away from me & family. He has not complained once.
Stop feeling so entitled.

I don't remember paying for regular tv but last year the little one was in hospital for over a week and I paid £25.00 for all the movies (child and grown up) it was unlimited and transferable) and stopped the both of us going bonkers as I stayed over the whole week. It is a shame that most folk, where ever they are, seem not to be able to communicate without the means of iPad, phone, laptop and the like and can only be entertained by a screen."
I was in hospital when I was 15 and we had one TV for the ward. As the rest of the denizens were elderly ladies we had to watch what they wanted to watch. I nearly went mad.
I'd be happy with my Kindle and phone now. Most TV is rubbish so I wouldn't even entertain the idea of paying for it. |

So if they said to you "I'm sorry we can't give you the a"ntibiotics you need which means your infection will get worse, you'll end up with sepsis and probably die but here's the full SKY sports and movies packages to keep you happy" you'd prefer that would you? think your just splitting hairs now, all I said was what they charge you is over the top, I'm prob saying not much different, to when others and more than likey most on here have said about parking charges, road tax, fuel prices alcohol prices and so on"
I'm not splitting hairs. Where do you think the budget savings to give you free TV should come from? |

You have absolutely no idea!!!
Frank spent 3 weeks in hospital last summer, followed by lots of appointments, meds & injections at home, 6 sessions of chemo, lost all hair & on Monday had a stem cell harvest in prep for a transplant. This will involve a 3-4 week stay in hospital, part in isolation, an hour away from me & family. He has not complained once.

And you have no idea what I'm in here for, and I have not complained once about the treatment I have or will continue to receive, my only Q was the cost they expect people to pay for watching tv, and I will repeat what I said on. Numours occasion I don't mind paying but I fortunate to be able to, but there us probably a lot that can't pay £7.5 a day |

Exactly. If the money made from it was going into NHS coffers then fine. I suspect they see very little of it, if any. "
There's no such thing as "in house for free". There's a cost in infrastructure and maintenance |

When I was last in hospital I read 3 books. I was only in from Friday through Monday!
If it wasn't for the massive brain swelling and the several failed lumbar puncture attempts it would've been quite an enjoyable, relaxing weekend.  |

Off the hospital route, we go to the log cabin nearby Beverley, one day we were parking my car and you have to use credit card, so we paid the money. 5 mins later a msg off our bank someone's trying to use our card in a shop.
Mrs phoned the bank and they card showed being used in Amsterdam. After a few mins talking it was found that the company who looks after the parking in Beverley are based in Amsterdam and that's what was showing up , my point is why are we out sourcing these facilities abroad where they take most of the fees |

No people are dieing becasue of funds spent on smokers, d*unks, fat people and druggys , along with people who are not entitled to free treatment including people who have made the decision to spend their life on handouts from the dole, and before people start with smokers pay tax, 1 operation can cost more than a lifetime of paying tax on cancer giving ,"

The smart thing to do would have been to get the NHS trusts to only contract it out for a short term investment, using the infrastructure created thereafter to plough the subsequent profits back into the NHS.
Same with the car parks. I can't understand why they took the short term _iew.
