NW London

NightJar is a cool speakeasy type place in Shoreditch. As is the hidden away The Mayor of Scaredy Cat Town.

The bar in the Sanderson Hotel (West End) is chic and upmarket.

Mr Foggs Residence is an eclectic bar in Mayfair

Cellar Door is a quirky basement bar near Covent Garden with cabaret and burlesque.

And in Camden, The Colonel Fawcett is worth seeking out (great food too)

I can heartily recommend the American Bar at the Savoy.

Walk up to the main door, hang left, look like you own the place and get a table.

Class.

Expensive but it's always worth it. Good WOW factor for nice young men one might be attempting to get into the pants of.

For instance.

I really like 55 in Camden Town. They have a good selection of cocktails and great music.

The bar at the Sanderson Hotel makes a good Mojito & a wonderful Hendricks & Tonic.

I love it but it's been over a year since I was last there. I took a friend who was leaving London for good and he'd never been in the Savoy before.

Waldorf is good too - St Pancras Renaissance is great if you can get a seat

Not strictly cocktails BUT if you book breakfast at the Walk Talkie you skip the queues, get the views and can still have a snifter from the bar

I offered to take you there once. At this time of the year, booking the sofa next to the open fire is the thing to aim for.

I love that if you can't quite decide what to have the staff just ask how you're feeling, a couple of questions about your favourite tastes and come back with a surprise for your palette.

That's where we should go then. I can get there on the bus... which also goes past the ice cream place in Dalston.
