I cant offer one single reason why he should escape the death penalty ......
But it's just not something I condone .....

that's fine I get it from a moral standpoint you don't condone death penalties which is normal and humane nothing wrong with that. I personally am not all pro capital punishment but when it's happening to people like this then I can't say id shed a tear for them.. |

the issue i have is that even up to sentencing roof has shown no remorse for what he did.... I would happily lock him up and throw away the key... but i personally still cannot condone the death penalty |

that's fine I get it from a moral standpoint you don't condone death penalties which is normal and humane nothing wrong with that. I personally am not all pro capital punishment but when it's happening to people like this then I can't say id shed a tear for them.."

It's a tough one this, but I think I will still come down on the no death penalty for anyone side.
Simply as I cannot square the reasoning behind killing someone is wrong, the punishment is for someone to kill you.
It's either wrong for everyone, or it's not. |

Maybe you have more compassion and see it as a humane thing to do to lock him up for good either then execute him. However most people there probably don't see it that way they would rather he burned for what he did and by doing that they would also argue that it saves the tax payer money by getting rid off him al together either then just locking him up at waiting for him to die off old age.. |

I disagree with the death penalty in all circumstances . A) we will show you killing is wrong by killing you B) there is to much risk of innocent people being executed . Whilst I know in this case guilt is known , surely they thought that in all the cases where innocent people were released from death row .

What he did was utterly horrendous but I don't belive in the death penalty under any circumstances, even this one. There is a difference between justice and retribution and I just can't get my head around applying the death penalty. |

No to killing for state justice.
Make him suffer for what he's done.
Work him hard for the rest of his life or for at least, until he shows remorse and apologises to the families. Them lock him up for the rest of his life.
Same for all those who murder and commit terrible crimes.
Scumbags.

Sorry I wasn't saying they had responsibility . My point was that if the victims families didn't want the death penalty then surely it shouldn't be given . They have suffered enough without knowing someone is being killed in their loved ones name |

Ah right; I misunderstood you; and tend to agree.
And they will suffer for the rest of their lives, whatever happens to him.
Perhaps ( since they are religious) they can draw some moral comfort from the fact that they have demonstrated some sort of humanity. |

This says it all for me, really.
I don't believe in the death penalty. Period. Will I shed a tear? No. But that doesn't change my opinion on government policy. I don't let extreme cases and scenarios dictate my rational for governance. |
