Didnt realise i was classed as a millenial. But i agree fully with everything said. I came off facebook last year and feel befter for it. And work with plenty of people who feel entitled rather than working for it. |

What an eloquent man - I loved it - thanks for that OP.
Nearly everyone I work with is a millennial - and this is exactly how they behave!
I'm guilty of a lot of it too apart from social media ( fab excluded )

It has to be taken in context. In the workplace there are plenty of bosses who are dicks; who will speak or act inappropriately, who will not have had appropriate training or experience and let their life experience rule their 'professional capacity'.
As young adults, entering the workplace, we've all had ambition and drive it just depends if your boss or company has been able to recognise it or if you were able to see that your boss was in fact an under qualified dick gaining experience and taking the piss.
There is so much to be said for this millennial generation though nothing previous generations haven't gone through.

Very good. There is much truth in it. The leadership challenge for the older generations is definitely different but I'm not sure it's more difficult. That said engaging young people in meaningful development and work has always been an interest for me, so I just see at how things have evolved. |

I definitely found it an interesting watch and found the it provided food for thought and of course linked to scenarios in my life and to people I know.
Whilst I accepted it, I didn't feel that it took into account that we, the millennials, are the first first generation to grow up with this technological change. So although it pointed out the affect it has, it didn't go in to how it's going to need to be managed by future generations of that makes sense? He gave valid points on how to manage 'life' currently, but I think this will only work to a point with how things are progressing.
Please note that I am not being negative to this at all. I enjoyed listening to what he had to say and will look to make changes on it. I'm just not sure if it will by sustainable for future years. |

I've got to be honest - he sounds like it's scaremongering a bit.
'Dopamine is the same thing that we get when we drink, gamble, etc'... That's why social media is bad... But it's also the reaction we have to love - but he doesn't mention that as a negative problem. We're allowing unfettered access to dopamine producing devices... and this is bad... but we don't stop young people falling in love. We don't think that kind of dopamine is bad.
Basically, he seems to want to shit on my generation (yes, I'm a Millenial) to get himself more Youtube views and more bookings on his speaking circuit... He's using people for exactly the kind of validation he's bemoaning. |

I also don't see the problem with wanting to have an impact on the world. I've quit jobs because I didn't feel like I was needed there. There was no job fulfilment. I wasn't making a difference. I wasn't going to make a difference any time soon.
So I followed my own path. Made my own career. Went to university. Started to make an impact on the world.
Fuck the people who say you should stay in a soul destroying job that you hate. Fuck them. It was fine when you had a job for life with a nice big pension at the end - but our parents generation have made sure we don't have those perks anymore. Fuck them. Do what makes you happy.
I don't want to be 'fine'. I want to be living. |

I don't think he's shitting on your generation,I think he's saying that a lot is going on around them but they are to busy being absorbed by this virtual world that gives them this gratification.social skills that are not being learnt because of the lackoff interaction that now occurs.this technology is great but maybe needs to be reigned in a little with young people. |
